Posted on April 5, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

Some may remember that a couple of months about Twitch Streamer Rudeism started playing World of Warcraft with two DDR pads.  Now after months of tapping away with his feet in an effort to level up, he has reached level 100 (the max level in current WoW). He was able to finish the task yesterday , reaching the end of a long road of hard work which he had dubbed #DanceCraft and had been working on almost non-stop for months. As he neared level 100, the New Zealander seemed to lose his voice and admitted he was getting a little teary

Hands On: This Weekend’s DOOM Beta Was Hellishly Bad

Posted on April 3, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Fans of id Software’s DOOM franchise have literally been waiting years for the closed beta for Bethesda’s upcoming reboot since it was announced via a pack-in advertisement bundled with Wolfenstein: The New Order. After spending 3 hours with a limited version of the game’s multiplayer this weekend I’m left with far more concerns and questions then fun moments to tide me over until the games’ May release date. Two of DOOM’s six multiplayer modes were available in the closed beta – the FPS staple Team Deathmatch and a King of the Hill variant called Warpath. The inclusion of TDM just

Nintendo to Discontinue DSi Shop in 2017

Posted on April 3, 2016 by Jason Nason

This is your one year warning. Nintendo recently announced hat in they plan to close the Nintendo DSi Shop in 2017. The digital game service was the predecessor to the eShop and has been available on the Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DSi XL systems since 2009. If you have Nintendo DSi Points to spend or you have deleted downloaded Nintendo DSiWare software from your system, you may want to make plans to get those titles in order. Games previously downloaded can be redownloaded until March 31st, 2017 but after that will be unavailable. If you still have an old Nintendo

Oculus Rift Launch. Things Begin to Look Up

Posted on April 3, 2016 by Broken Joysticks

The 28th of March was the exciting big launch date of the Oculus Rift, when the premium VR headset would ship to those who had pre-ordered it. Except… It didn’t. Oculus originally generated a lot of excitement by shipping some units early, with some Kickstarter backers of the original devkit, who were promised a free consumer version, receiving their Rifts on launch day. In spite of this promising news, only a small amount of units actually went out to a handful of customers who pre-ordered, and only US Kickstarters received their free Rift. A considerable amount of people who were

Brand New Overwatch Short ‘Alive’ Debuts

Posted on April 3, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Overwatch Alive Short
Blizzard’s marketing blitz for their upcoming team shooter Overwatch with the release of a brand new 6 minute self contained animated short. This time things focus on the French assassin Widowmaker, as she moves in for the kill on a VIP in Kings Row. It’s really cool to see Blizzard using the in-game levels as the setting for their animated shorts. Does Widowmaker get the kill? You’ll have to keep watching until the end to find out! This short’s narration opens with the chilling “When I was little I had a fear of spiders…”, just how do the arachnids factor

Paragon Early Look

Posted on April 3, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

I was lucky enough to get in to the Beta test phase of Paragon from EPIC studios. The game is very ambitious Multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game that is challenging many of the traditional MOBA elements, while still keeping to the genres roots. The first thing that anyone who plays this game is going to notice is how pretty it it. The game is rendered in Unreal engine 4, and everything looks amazing. Colors pop, champions animations are fluid and beautiful, and the map is alive with terrain that is anything but flat. The second thing you are likely to

Ubisoft Files New Beyond Good & Evil Trademark

Posted on April 2, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Ubisoft has filed for a brand new trademark that would cover the oft thought abandoned Beyond Good & Evil franchise. This new trademark would cover game software, clothing, online components to game software and interestingly paper products. While I doubt we could be seeing a BG&E pen & paper RPG, perhaps this new filing lends some credibility to the rumor from earlier in the year that Beyond Good & Evil 2 would be revealed as a Nintendo NX exclusive at this year’s E3. The original reveal for BG&E 2 took play at Ubisoft’s Udays conference almost 8 years ago. After Michel

Warframe – Proving F2P Can Work

Posted on April 2, 2016 by Broken Joysticks

Author’s note: The free-to-play pricing model I discuss here is in regards to games that can be played without spending any money, rather than the label that MMORPG games use when they don’t require a subscription fee (but still do require an initial purchase). I will also be intentionally not talking about the majority of gameplay, to instead focus on Warframe’s free-to-play aspect. It’s not uncommon for the gaming community to dismiss a title, even if it looks promising, if it releases with a free-to-play payment model. I admit that when I see the words ‘free to play’ attached to a

Mass Effect Andromeda Animation Reel Leaked

Posted on April 2, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Demo animations from the next Mass Effect title may have leaked thanks to an animation reel from “a certain developer” who previously worked on the next installment of Bioware’s futuristic space opera RPG series. According to this very brief animation reel this particular animator worked on fire effects for objects like barrels, rain / fog and other environment weather effects, pollen plumes and a jet pack animation. According to well known industry insider – shinobi602 – this particular footage is from a 2014 build of the game and the game “doesn’t look like that anymore”. As any long time video

Surprise, The Internet Loves Miitomo – Combining Miis & Cats Is The Best Thing Ever!

Posted on April 1, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

The internet loves adorable kitty cats and memes, right? Well, we can add Nintendo’s first mobile title Miitomo to that list as well, for the time being. The company’s first mobile offering is currently trending in top 10 on Twitter with over 135K tweets about the game. Sadly over on Facebook the story isn’t exactly the same, as of publication time Miitomo is not trending. However, for those who doubted Nintendo’s presence carrying over into the mobile space, this just shows that there is an appetite for Nintendo content on smartphones. The Division the definitive review

Posted on April 1, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

The Division
I would like to find the brilliant mind who thought to themselves, what if we took the shooting of borderlands and Destiny, and smashed it in to the RPG world Diablo 3, then set it in an open world modern New York and made if feel real and plausible? After I met them I’d probably kiss them, because their idea was no doubt the grain of inspiration for the Tom Clancys: The Division. Just to give you an idea of how obsessed I am with this game, I finished the main story in about 10 hours, since then I have
