Ark Survival Evolved lawsuit settles for 40 million USD

Posted on April 18, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

Trendy Entertainment is probably not a studio you have heard of, Studio Wildcard probably is, or at least you have heard of their big game: Ark: Survival Evolved. The Dino taming, survival game that was last years smash hit on steam, that sold over 2 million copies. We even recently had the opportunity to interview Jessie Rapczak at GDC. Ark is quite popular even spawing a spin off king of the hill type of game they are giving away for free, in addition to the 2 million in sales on Steam alone! Some simple back of envelope math puts the worth of

Overwatch Abominations – A New Glitch has Disturbing Results

Posted on April 18, 2016 by Renee Gittins

One of the joys of playing games still in development is the discovery of bugs and other glitches that have amusing results. Sometimes these even make it out of the betas and into the released games themselves, like the flying horse of Skyrim. This latest glitch is one that I hope to see continue to live on. During the Overwatch stress test this last weekend, one of the members of my guild discovered a glitch in Overwatch that allowed you to force a texture on another character’s model. Some of the results are quite humorous while others border terrifying. My personal

Doom open beta extended

Posted on April 18, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

If you aren’t our own Rae Michelle, you are probably enjoying the DOOM beta this weekend. Its blend of rockets, fast movement, cosmetics and unlocks seems to have made someone happy as its overlords, Bethesda softworks (yes the skyrim people) have decided to extend it to 11:59pm ET. on April 18. Personally I havent been able to get in to it at all, as this weekend saw the Overwatch beta as well as a bunch of other gaming related stuff, but I did watch some streams of it, and they seemed pretty good. Plenty of peole had the same set

Animal Crossing was released 15 years ago

Posted on April 17, 2016 by Jason Nason

It’s hard to believe that Animal Crossing is fifteen years old as it only seems like yesterday I was sitting in my room playing the first game in North America on my Nintendo GameCube. It’s also hard to imagine that the game took up an entire memory card, which is why the original game came packaged with one. The very first Animal Crossing game was released for the Nintendo 64 in Japan on April 14th, 2001. Since then there have been several releases across multiple generations, including the most recent spin offs Happy Home Designer and amiibo Festival. To commemorate

Hyrule Warriors Legends | Review

Posted on April 17, 2016 by Jason Nason

Hyrule Warriors Legends is a scaled down version of the hit Wii U title of last year, and while it does fall victim to a few flaws it is overall a fun title. That being said, if you have the original Hyrule Warriors Wii U version and can do without all of the new DLC that has been added to the game then the game is an easy pass. Hyrule Warriors Legends is once again a co production between Nintendo and Koei Tecmo and mixes the Zelda characters and universe with the hack-and-slash gameplay from the Dynasty Warriors series. The

If you missed out on action packed third person shooter with a lot of attitude then now would be the perfect time to snag a copy for free from Microsoft. It’s too bad that Sunset Overdrive was a bit of a sleeper hit, it looked like it had the right balance of colorful graphics, tongue-in-cheek humor and vibrant nature to counter the dull boring shooters we

Stories: The Path of Destinies | Review

Posted on April 16, 2016 by Robyn Robo

“Stories: The Path of Destinies” is a fun, lighthearted action-RPG set in a high fantasy world of flying ships and sky-islands. You are going to lose, constantly, and you are going to love it. Stories is a bit like a choose your own adventure game, or the recently resurgent interactive fiction genre. It is meant to be replayed. Sessions are quick, lasting only about an hour at a time. Most of the time, though, you’ll end up making the wrong choices and perishing inevitably. That said, this is what sets “Stories” apart in the genre. Your choices define your person

Posted on April 16, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

If this weekend’s open beta for the latest doom just isn’t scratching that itch for demon infested combat on Mars then perhaps Doom III: Redux is for you.  Developed by Clear_Sterlock originally for just for his own enjoyment, Doom III: Redux adds a number of enhancements including cleaned up/higher resolution textures, audio fixes for the game’s audio-logs to make them sound more authentic and even the inclusion of cut content from the 2002 E3 leak! [youtube id=”Ic6p3HDwLD8″] Certainly this was no small undertaking especially for one person. Describing the current state of the mod, Clear_Sterlock wrote a rather long blog post about the current

Mushroom Wars | Review

Posted on April 15, 2016 by Broken Joysticks

Mushroom Wars, the acclaimed PS3 strategy game by Creat Studios, has made its way to PC. On its surface, Mushroom Wars comes across as a cutesy game that might be better suited to children than adults, with a simplistic art style and user interface. You’d be wrong to approach it this way, as the game is deceptively difficult. The game begins easily enough, with competent tutorials explaining the game’s mechanics, but rapidly becomes a tough, pure RTS experience.
