Parker Quinn’s Charge Card Actually Has A Use In Fallout 4’s New DLC

Posted on May 19, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

When Fallout 4 launched last November players quickly came across an NPC named Parker Quinn who offered to sell the player a “charge card” in exchange for caps. That is all well & good but the damn thing didn’t really do much, as one of our former editor’s found out in his lengthy impressions of the game. As Kotaku pointed out on their YouTube channel – Bethesda’s open world add-on to Fallout 4, Far Harbor contains a hidden quest that is only available if you in possession of Parker Quinn’s charge card.

Falling Stars War of Empire | Review

Posted on May 18, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

Review by: Rob Logsdon Falling Stars: War of Empire is a space sim developed by Riveted Games and published by Lock’n Load Publishing. It is a turn based space simulation in line with Civilization. Just like in Civilization you start with your single home planet and some ships and you send forces out to explore. When you find a neutral planet you have the choice to either barter with it and gain some immediate benefits like getting some free troops or transports, or you can conquer it. Conquering a planet allows you to build an Orbital Construction facility which allows

Early DOOM Campaign Impressions: “Absolutely Brutal”

Posted on May 13, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Doom
I’ve been following id Software’s revival of the granddaddy of First Person Shooters, DOOM, since it was announced over two years ago. After the rather bland looking E3 campaign demos from last year, there was relative silence about the single player content right up until a few weeks before the game’s release. After spending 3 hours with the single-player mode into the wee hours of the morning I’ve got some initial impressions to share.

Civilization VI Coming To PC This October

Posted on May 12, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

It has been quite a few years since we got a properly numbered Civilization title – sure side adventures like Civilization: Beyond Earth and its’ expansion were fun but they really did feel like an incremental step forward from Civilization V, rather than a completely new experience.  Firaxis Games and publisher 2K have announced that the next mainline entry in the 25 year old franchise, Civilization VI will be released on Windows PC in late October. [youtube id=”qvBf6WBatk0″] Civilization VI looks to build on the successful franchise formula by introducing changes to some of the key components that comprise Civ’s

Homefront The Revolution
Prepare to join the resistance as Ethan Bradly in the upcoming Homefront: The Revolution on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Publisher Deep Silver along with developer Dambuster Games have released a new story trailer, focusing on the Philadelphia resistance as they try to free Benjamin Walker and inspire the people of the north eastern United States to rise up after a terrifying invasion. Homefront: The Revolution has been in development since at least September of 2011, then under the supervision of now defunct publisher THQ at Crytek UK. After financial difficulties at Crytek emerged in 2014 the rights to

FFXIV Sephirot Fight PAX East Gameplay

Posted on May 10, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Square Enix brought the latest primal battle from Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward to PAX East last month, giving non-subscribers and newcomers to the game the chance to take down Sephirot on the show-floor. The newest threat to Eorzea might be several months old – being introduced in late February – but the fight took center stage at Square Enix’s PAX East booth. Two rows of 4 demo stations were lined back to back with one player’s screen being broadcast on a large screen facing the crowd outside Square’s booth. Check out two minutes of my favorite class, the bard, taking

20XX: A Rougelike take on Mega Man X

Posted on May 9, 2016 by Erika

20XX header
What happens when you take the ideas and feel of a Mega Man X game, add in random levels and powerups, a bit of permanent death, and a season it with multiplayer? You get 20XX, by Batterystaple Games. Bad cooking comparison aside, This game was designed by someone who absolutely loves the Mega Man X series, and it really shows. Even though it’s in Early Access on Steam, the version I’ve played (0.951b) is very solid in terms of gameplay and feel. From what it looks like, the development team is quite receptive on supporting and developing their game. It’s

‘Five Nights At Freddy’s’ Dev In Negotiations To Remake Games For Consoles

Posted on May 9, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Indie horror sensation Five Nights At Freddy’s could get a remake on current generation consoles according to the game’s developer, Scott Cawthon. According to Scott he is already in talks with “a few companies” about fully remaking the games to take advantage of the 8th generation of consoles. The original Five Nights At Freddy’s and its’ sequels were developed in ClickTeam Fusions 2.5 – an visual orientated game development suite that eschews traditional scripting languages like C++ or C# for an easy to understand “Event Editor” grid system. While Fusion 2.5 is a very versatile creation suite that supports a

Eve Online Celebrates Its’ 13th Birthday

Posted on May 7, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Can you believe that CCP’s baby, EVE Online, has turned 13? Usually, the teenage years are a time for rebellion, Defiance and not a Tabula Rasa for long time fans. But since all of those games no longer exist – it’s actually an amazing milestone for a massively multiplayer online title to be live for such  a long time.  EVE: Online joins the leagues of games like Ashron’s Call, Everquest 1 and Lineage II as being one of the few games from the golden age of MMOs in the mid-00s to still welcome new players. Developers CCP is celebrating this major

GRIM.EXE Infects Epic Games’ Paragon

Posted on May 5, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

The latest hero to enter the combat arena in Paragon is GRIM.EXE a fully functional battle robot that comes with his own infomercial. Using an unlimited energy source that powers a large pulse canon GRIM.EXE is able to unleash devastating blasts at medium range, shield himself using another one of his abilities and knockback opponents with another.  His ultimate – a “Gyro Targeted Force Orb” – can pass through solid objects and home in on a single target, dealing them their final blow. GRIM.EXE (and the little imp who issues him commands) will be coming for free to the PlayStation

The Mean Greens – Why You Should Enlist In This Early Access Shooter

Posted on May 1, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Developers Virtual Basement bring the childhood pastime of backyard warfare with plastic army men into the modern era with their Unreal 4 engine powered team death match shooter The Mean Greens.  This is certainly territory that has been covered by 3DO’s now defunct Army Men franchise on previous generation consoles, but no other title has made watching your plastic figure melting into a pile of goo like The Mean Greens has achieved.

Uncharted 4 Teases The Return of a Former Sony Mascot

Posted on April 30, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Naughty Dog is well known for their work on last generations huge PlayStation exclusive franchises Uncharted and The Last of Us, but before they took on the task of redefining third person combat the studio was well known for a PlayStation One exclusive staring a certain marsupial. Crash Bandicoot put both the PlayStation brand and Naughty Dog on the map back in the early 90s. With its fast 3D platforming action and an ‘tude only the mid 90s could produce, the series went on to produce three successful games on the original PlayStation before Sony’s exclusivity deal with Vivendi Universal

Posted on April 28, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

ChinsawAwesome’s 8 player indie brawler Knight Squad had their own booth at PAX East and we were able to get a guided tour of the mayhem filled multiplayer title from one of the developers. Players take to the arena was one of several colored Knights with the objective of capturing a chalice placed within the arena.  Just don’t think it will be easy to capture because every player has access to different power-ups and ability pick-ups placed throughout the map! Last man standing style death match isn’t the only activity isn’t Knight Squad’s only mode – players can also test
