Sony Begins Sending Out PlayStation Now Beta Invites

Last evening Sony began sending out invites for their upcoming PlayStation Now game streaming service, IGN.com has reported. The streaming service is entering a small closed beta period ahead of its official release sometime later this year and requires a 5MB internet connection and the use of a PlayStation 3 is recommended according to the invite email. PlayStation Now is an online streaming service that will allow gamers to play titles from the console maker’s nearly 20 year history on the PlayStation 3, PS4 as well as Sony Bravia televisions and Smart Phones. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Trailer Swings In

The Amazing Spider-Man is set to make his return to video game consoles via developer Beenox and publisher Activision this year. Historically, I personally believe that Beenox has done an outstanding job with the Spider-Man games. They are looking to continue this trend with a new Spidey game, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which will release sometime in the spring of this year. While the storyline will not follow the movies’, which is truly not a bad thing, it will feature some of the enemies featured in the film. Don’t worry true believers, there will also be more classic villains for you to take down as well

LOTR Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor Gameplay Surfaces

GameSpot has released some gameplay footage that shows what Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s new Lord of the Rings title Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor looks like from Monolith Productions. So far it seems to be somewhat Assassin’s Creed inspired with random rival generation which makes Orc foes that you build a history against called the Nemesis System. All this taking place between The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Interestingly, this is possibly the first non canon LOTR video game. Read on for the video!

PlayStation Network Maintenance January 27th

It was announced today that Sony will be performing network maintenance on Monday, January 27th from 12:30 PM to 6:30 PM Eastern Time with the maintenance expected to last approximately 6 hours. If users have signed in to PlayStation Network any time since January 20th they will still be able to play games online and access partner apps such as Netflix during this maintenance period, however the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home and Account Management will not be available during this time. Be sure to sign in to PlayStation Network prior to Monday, January 27th in order to access online game

New Teaser and Release Date for Conception II

Atlus revealed a new teaser trailer for their upcoming RPG title Conception II: Children of the Seven Stars today, and also let loose on the release date for the game. The title will be released on both the PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS on April 15th, 2014. So, what can you expect from Conception II? Lightning Returns Demo Available today on Xbox 360 and PS3

Square Enix announced today that a playable demo for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is now available for download on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. As a special bonus, players who download the PlayStation Network demo will automatically receive the Utsusemi Garb DLC, which includes the Heavenly Fan weapon and the Kaminari (meaning “Lightning” in Japanese) shield item. The DLC pack will download with the demo and will be unlocked in the full retail game on February 11. The DLC pack will also be available to purchase for other customers later this year. Watch_Dogs Coming in June

Ubisoft Has a New JRPG-Inspired Game in the Works

Ubisoft announced a new downloadable title was in the works back in September, and the game will be a JRPG inspired title. Child of Light centres around Aurora who, after falling ill, finds her soul transported from her home to the magical kingdom of Lemuria where the Black Queen had stolen the Sun, the Moon and the Stars. SEGA Announces New Aliens Game

Earlier today SEGA & Twentieth Century Fox announced a new game in the Alien series coming to current and next gen consoles. Alien: Isolation, a first-person survival horror experience, will focus on capturing the horror and tension evoked by Ridley Scott’s 1979 classic film. The game is being developed by Creative Assembly with the game set to be released in late 2014 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Windows PC. Sony Introduces PlayStation Now

Today Sony announced a new streaming game service at at CES 2014 in Las Vegas. The new service will be called PlayStation Now (PS Now) and is set to be available in the United States beginning this summer. Sony promises that with the new service you will be able to stream popular hits and classic games from the PS3 library, first on PS4 and PS3 systems, followed by PS Vita. After a Decade Fans Revive Resident Evil: Outbreak Servers

Death just can’t keep a good game down. Similar to how the T-Virus re-animates the dead in the Resident Evil series, fans have revived the online component for the Japanese versions of Resident Evil: Outbreak & Resident Evil: Outbreak File #2. Using packet captures from the Japanese release of Outbreak dedicated fans were able to re-create the game’s online mode albeit with some limited functionality. Sony Previews January’s PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection

Sony unveiled the January lineup of their Instant Game Collection for PlayStation Plus members on Thursday. The list includes several PS3 and PS Vita titles as well as one game for the PS4. For PlayStation 3 owners three titles will be available with two of those blockbuster games. DMC Devil May Cry and BioShock Infinite will be available in January as well as Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. PlayStation Vita owners will be able to download Worms: Battle Island and Smart As… while PlayStation 4 owners can download a new title called Don’t Starve.
