Time and Eternity | Review

Posted on July 16, 2013 by Les Major

If you’re looking for a slower paced RPG with action based combat and romantic anime overtones with occasional lightly perverted jokes, this title is for you. Time and Eternity is a game you relax to since it does take a decent amount of time to play through. Combat especially can be quite lengthy and the battlefield areas can have quite a bit of ground to cover. This review contains early on spoilers.

The Last of Us | Review

Posted on June 13, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Warning: minor story spoilers ahead. Describing The Last of Us as a post apocalyptic, stealth-action hybrid that takes place 20 years after hordes of infected have ravaged the world, essentially causing the apocalypse, would be doing it a disservice. While on the surface, and probably to the uninitiated, this statement is accurate, it does little to highlight what makes this game so special: Joel and Ellie, the two main characters, and the bond they share. Zombies may be so passé that the genre appears to be shambling forward like the very undead that inhabit it, but Naughty Dog’s latest proves that

Fuse | Review

Posted on June 5, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Version Tested: Xbox 360 Let’s face it, Insominac Games is a pretty big name in the gaming world. Series like Resistance and Ratchet & Clank are proof that Insomniac Games knows what they are doing. So, does their newest title, Fuse, the first game published by EA and developed for not only Sony’s PlayStation 3, but Microsoft’s Xbox 360, keep Insomniac’s tradition of quality titles running?

Injustice: Gods Among Us | Review

Posted on April 30, 2013 by Broken Joysticks

I can say without a doubt that there are an infinite number of universes.  Some are just like our own… but for one or two significant events, exactly the same. These words stated by Lex Luthor introduce the story  for Injustice: Gods Among Us.  Published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and developed by NetherRealm Studios, who are commonly known as the creators of Mortal Kombat. The game was released across on the PlayStation 3, Wii U, and Xbox 360 on April 16, 2013, and this review is based on the Xbox 360 version of the game. Can NetherRealm studios deliver a great

Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge | Review

Posted on April 22, 2013 by Jason Fayta

Version tested: PlayStation 3 Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge (hereafter Razor’s Edge), the once exclusive Wii U title, arrives on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 shortly after its release on Nintendo’s console, and perhaps, much to the chagrin of Ninja Gaiden 3 owners. It’s one thing to have to read about the debacle that was Ninja Gaiden 3, but for gamers who purchased the title at launch, the mere existence of Razor’s Edge may have soured any attempt for Team Ninja to redeem themselves.

Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk | Review

Posted on March 25, 2013 by Broken Joysticks

Tecmo Koei is probably best known for its innovative and creative item crafting based series Atelier, developed by Gust, which is one of the more respected series in the JRPG genre. Whereas other JRPGs have usually focused on straight-forward “save the world” stories, and many other games skewing darker and darker in the modern gaming world, it is nice to know that a developer can still put out something nice and fluffy, while nonetheless, still be engaging and entertaining.

Dead or Alive 5 Plus | Review

Posted on March 24, 2013 by Jason Fayta

The PlayStation Vita is starting to become a portable utopia for fighting fans. Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3, Street Fighter X Tekken, Mortal Kombat, BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend, and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale already grace the system, and if you include the games available from the PSP’s library, such a Tekken 6 and Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max, you have a line-up of titles that should appease the most ardent of fighting fans. Dead or Alive 5 Plus (hereafter DOA5+), Team Ninja’s portable installment of Dead or Alive 5, has a lot of competition, and with the aforementioned ports all

DmC: Devil May Cry | Review

Posted on March 7, 2013 by Jason Fayta

Version tested: PlayStation 3 Devil May Cry returns as DmC, a new vision for the series by developer Ninja Theory, who are responsible for Heavenly Sword and Enslaved, two games that lean more on adventure than action. With that statement alone, Devil May Cry fans have expressed their displeasure, to put it mildly, with the shift in direction, and in some cases, have written the game off entirely. But, a new vision doesn’t necessarily translate as a wasted effort, and DmC is no slouch when it comes to delivering stylish action.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate | Review

Posted on March 5, 2013 by Les Major

The most important thing to get out of the way is this game is a side-scroller based on the console Castlevania: Lords of Shadow game. This isn’t your usual Metroidvania, and while it has somewhat familiar mapping, it’s more linear. There are a million ways you can compare this title to Metroidvania titles (such as Symphony of the Night) however this game just isn’t one of them. So lets look at what Mirror of Fate is.

Game Party Champions | Review

Posted on March 4, 2013 by Les Major

If you’re looking for a collection of mini games that use various features of the Wii U GamePad, Game Party Champions (hereafter GPC) is an interesting mix. You’re given a set of eight games and currently the game is selling for as low as $30 or less. That isn’t bad, all things considered. When the game first came out, I found it a little hard to recommend at its full price point, but as closer to a budget title, there is fun to be found in GPC for the Wii U.

Omerta: City of Gangsters | Review

Posted on March 1, 2013 by Joshua Rust

Version tested: Xbox 360 America. The land of dreams. The land of opportunity. Straight off the boat from Sicily you arrive in fictional Atlantic City with ambition and machinations of a criminal empire that the world has never seen. If only things were as simple as dreaming. Starting out as a lowly nobody and working up through the ranks to a criminal overlord will take time and money. Fortunately if you have the time, the money won’t be a problem.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance | Review

Posted on February 26, 2013 by Jason Bassett

Version tested: Xbox 360 Fast is a good adjective to describe Raiden. Lightning-quick is another good one. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is a very fast and highly violent video game–very violent. It’s possible that one could become nauseous at the violence in this game. That’s on the surface of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Deep within the core of Rising lies a very awesome and very challenging video game that will give you a deeper understanding of how Platinum Games and Kojima Productions have taken a project that was once almost dead and buried and turned it into one of the must have
