Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions | Review

Posted on December 1, 2014 by Les Major

After playing so much of the second Geometry Wars game, I was satisfied and didn’t think the series could evolve further (see what I did there?) but this third installment is a wonderful worthwhile addition. From the newly reformed Sierra we have an unexpected and awesome release. Imagine the gameplay of Geometry Wars, but featuring 3d objects as the grid you move across. It’s like you’re flying around a world in Super Mario Galaxy. The main feature of Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions is adventure mode. You’ll encounter various shaped fields to orbit, different alterations that change levels into almost new

Shadows of Mordor | Review

Posted on November 27, 2014 by Les Major

The moment I heard about Middle Earth: Shadows of Mordor, I was completely excited to play this title. It also made me quite nervous since it’s seemingly original content created in the world of J. R. R. Tolkien. Quickly as I’d read the announcement I scrolled down to the comments to see how fans would feel, and I’ve been exploring that ever since. It’s been relieving to see a positive response to this new venture. Shadows of Mordor does something wonderful in bringing more of Middle Earth to us and it’s great to see fans seem to appreciate it as

Skylanders: Trap Team | Review

Posted on November 21, 2014 by Les Major

Skylanders Trap Team expands well with the latest addition of trapping enemies to use as playable characters. This easily could have been a convoluted system, but fortunately it’s quite simple and easy to enjoy in game. No one enemy is confined permanently to a trap (Kaos aside), so for gamers concerned about full trap key sets, worry not. You can enjoy the games content with just one of each element. Why do I bring this up first? Trap Team has a lot to offer and it’s always intimidating when you’re trying to figure out just how much the base game

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare | Review

Posted on November 12, 2014 by Rae Michelle Richards

Version Tested: PlayStation 3 This year’s entry into the Call of Duty franchise brings with it a lot of promise. Fresh off of their role in developing 2011’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Sledgehammer Games gets their first crack at developing a fully fledged COD title. This is also the first game in the series to be developed within the newly announced 3 year development cycle. Does this extra dev time combined with an excellent performance by House of Card’s Kevin Spacey and the addition of powerful exoskeletons revitalize Activision’s yearly warfare franchise? or should you refuse to enlist?

Destiny | Review

Posted on November 5, 2014 by Rae Michelle Richards

Version Tested: PlayStation 3 Destiny quickly become one of the most pre-ordered titles in recent memory and of course it was backed by one of the largest marketing campaigns we’ve seen in a while for a videogame. Needless to say expectations for Bungie’s first post-Halo release reached into the stratosphere and after playing Destiny for quite some time I’m ready to render my verdict. Should you forge ahead into the stars and join the ranks of the Guardians or pass at being an interstellar savior?

The Legend of Dark Witch | REVIEW

Posted on October 15, 2014 by Jason Nason

The Legend of Dark Witch is a simple platform game from Circle for the 3DS. The game feels and plays similar to Mega Man, so if you’ve played those games you’ll know what to expect, and it doesn’t let you down. The plot of the game is simple to get you going. In the game, somebody has stolen all of the Syega Crystals, which gave their powers to the people of the world. After all the Syega crystals are missing, the world plunges into darkness. As the dark witch Zizou, you must retrieve the missing Syega Crystals. The first thing

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS | REVIEW

Posted on October 5, 2014 by Jason Nason

I’ll admit it’s been a while since I’ve played a Super Smash Bros game. In fact, you would almost consider me a new player to the series. It’s been that long. And while I got on board early and played the original game on my Nintendo 64 way back in the day, I never got around to getting (or playing) either Brawl or Melee on the Gamecube or Wii. Yeah. That long. I still remember a day when you only had a small handful of characters to choose from and a small smattering of arenas in which to battle. The

Super Mario 3D Land | REVIEW

Posted on September 28, 2014 by Jason Nason

I don’t think there’s been a Super Mario game I haven’t enjoyed. From the very first game way back in 1985 on the NES up until today, every platforming Mario title has been thoroughly enjoyable. Super Mario 3D Land is no exception. Years ago when Nintendo realized that people were craving a traditional side scrolling platforming Mario title, the company car out with New Super Mario Bros. The game was a huge success for Nintendo and spawned sequels on the 3DS, Wii and Wii U. This game takes all of the best elements of those games and takes it to

The Keep | REVIEW

Posted on September 11, 2014 by Jason Nason

The Keep is a breath of fresh air on the Nintendo 3DS eShop, a statement riddled with irony considering the setting of the game. The game brings the classic dungeon crawler role playing game genre and definitely hits all of the right notes. In The Keep you embark on a quest to explore caves and mines filled with monsters. You are trying to find your way out while also trying to solve puzzles get yourself to freedom. The story unfolds in story narration in between floors. Here is a bit of the plot of the game and then we’ll get

Castle Storm – Free to Siege | Review

Posted on May 13, 2014 by Jason Nason

CastleStorm – Free to Siege is a free-to-play game which doesn’t shove micro-transactions in your face but doesn’t shy away from them either. The game is simple and fun to play. You start off the game playing the Kingdom Quest campaign, where after years of peace the calm is threatened when the vikings start mysteriously attacking again. Luckily you play the hero who will work to defend the castle with a trusty bastilla, guide the troops into hand to hand combat against the vikings, as well as take to the battlefield yourself to get into the thick of things. The

Sea Battle | Review

Posted on April 27, 2014 by Jason Nason

Teyon’s newest game is for the good old Nintendo DSi and the DSiWare service, something that has all but been abandoned by most developers. And with some of the games being released in the eShop looking like they could have easily been DSiWare titles, including lacking 3D support, that is a shame. But Teyon’s Sea Battle, while solid in the gameplay, game mechanics and look, has a few quirks which drag it under. If you’ve ever played the board game Battleship you’ll know exactly what to expect from this title. The game isn’t marketed that way though as the developers
