FFXIV: Heavensward – Early Story Impressions

Posted on July 29, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

It’s been about a month since the last time I wrote about my experience with Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward. Unfortunately I forgot to write a new entry in my proposed series of articles about Square Enix’s latest expansion. Since the early access period expired at the end of June my bard, Reka Ai’a, has ventured through the Dravanian Forelands, brought an end to the DragonSong war and is now heading towards the final encounter with the Holy See.

Titanfall | Review

Posted on July 16, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

Version Tested: PC Titanfall is Respawn Entertainment’s first foray into the online shooter arena since their formation after the huge breakup at Infinity Ward several years ago. Hoping to carve out a space in the FPS for themselves, can giant mechs and the addition of A.I opponents to a traditionally player vs player environment will help set the game apart? Titanfall may be a year and a half old now but with the season’s pass going free to celebrate the game’s one year anniversary now might be the perfect time to hop into a titan.

Cities: Skylines | Review

Posted on July 10, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

The city building / management genre has always held a special place in my heart since I played Sim City 2000 back on the Super NES back in the early 90s. After the Sim City disaster a few years ago the genre has certainly seen better days. Can Paradox Interactive revitalize this troubled genre with this latest release? If planning out residential zones, parks and city services sound entertaining to you make sure to keep reading.

Impressions: Final Fantasy XIV Heavensward

Posted on June 22, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

Tomorrow marks the launch of the highly anticipated Final Fantasy XIV: Heavansward for Windows PC, PlayStation 4 and PS3. Players who pre-ordered the expansion have been able to set foot in the lands of Ishgard for the past three days during Heavensward’s early access period and I was fortunate enough to be granted passage through the borders of the long closed land. Here are my initial impressions of Heavensward after playing about the first ten hours.

A-Train 3D: City Simulator | REVIEW

Posted on May 14, 2015 by Jason Nason

Anyone that knows me knows that I’m a big transit guy. I love buses and trains alike, so the thought of a game where I can design my own train and bus network? That’s my kind of game. In fact when I saw the title of the game pop up I was taken aback as I’ve played this game before, at least one of it’s predecessors. I originally played A-Train WAY way back on the original PlayStation. Released by Maxis it was a fun game back in the day, but I remember being frustrated by the game. Perhaps it was

Impressions: Why I Stopped Playing Omega Quintet

Posted on May 6, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

I absolutely love a lot of Idea Factory International’s gaming properties and have been a fan of their work for the past 5 years ever since I imported a copy of the original Hyperdimension Neptunia for the PS3 back in 2009 due to the North American print of the game being quite limited. Unfortunately their latest title Omega Quintet left such a bad taste in my mouth that I had to put the game down and I haven’t picked it up since.

Code Name S.T.E.A.M | Review

Posted on April 6, 2015 by Jason Nason

One of the things that I appreciate is when Nintendo comes up with a new IP. Sure I love Mario and will never grow tired of games featuring this landmark character, but there’s something to be said for coming up with new games and new characters. Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. could have easily been just another Nintendo game featuring Mario, but instead the company decided to introduce a whole new set of characters and it’s very welcome. In Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. you’ll command a strike team of unexpected heroes – assembled by Abraham Lincoln himself – to defend Earth against an

Zombie Incident | Review

Posted on March 11, 2015 by Jason Nason

I know that sometimes the term “old school” is thrown around a lot. Talk of any game that looks, plays and feels like it could have been released back in the days of the Nintendo Entertainment System brings that saying to the front. Zombie Incident is another game that has that look and feel. Here’s a brief synopsis of the game: Hamartia, the great citadel, became the symbol of human sin. After centuries of excesses its penance was going to come. In the darkness of the night, chaos invaded everything. Beasts started to scream. Nothing was like before! No one

Adventure Bar Story | Review

Posted on March 8, 2015 by Jason Nason

Adventure Bar Story is an RPG set in a fantasy world in which you go on adventures with party members and manage a bar. The premise sounds somewhat odd, but the game actually plays pretty well and feels very much like a SNES era RPG. Your bar is facing a hostile take over by a rich restaurant owner named Gustav. Gustav is a powerful man and he will try to drive you out of business and force you to sell the bar! What’s the best way to defend the take over? Become the most popular bar in town, so even

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask | Review

Posted on February 12, 2015 by Jason Nason

I’ll be honest. I never played the original Majora’s Mask. Way back when the game was released on the Nintendo 64, I never got around to playing it. I sank countless hours into the game that came before it, Ocarina of Time. But somehow I just never got around to this one. I had heard a lot about the game and it always intrigued me but I never played it. Until now. Nintendo is continuing the tradition of updating older games in their catalogue and releasing them on current generation systems. I had always thought that the practice was a

Dying Light | Review

Posted on February 8, 2015 by Les Major

Taking the zombie survival genre we’ve come to know and love, then making it into an open world adventure that lies somewhere between Mirror’s Edge and Dead Rising, this is a fantastic title! There’s something familiar but unique in the first person presentation of Dying Light’s parkour style gameplay. As a runner for a group of survivors you’ll venture out into the zombie infested fictional city of Harran. So what makes this such an experience? Read on to find out. First off, the parkour style gameplay really sets Dying Light aside. Picture it as similar to some of the action
