Obsidian Entertainment Kickstarting Project Eternity

Posted on September 14, 2012 by Les Major

I grew up on PC titles like Fallout, Icewind Dale, and PlaneScape. As a huge AD&D fan, these treasures had tons of content to explore and always some fresh adventure to discover. That’s ‘Project Eternity’ to be exact. While there arn’t many details on it yet, it’s a safe bet to assume this will be a fantastic game. With creators I’ve loved throughout my youth coming back and offering up new content through kickstart I’m finally seeing the true value of group funding like this. If projects like this are possible to begin with, it’s positive to see them coming

Black Mesa Source Beta Released

Posted on September 14, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

There are certain gaming projects that we just all assume will never see the light of day – Duke Nukem Forever, Black Mesa: Source, Half Life 3 but now we can cross of two of those three. The team behind Black Mesa: Source have released a preview build of the game that includes all content up to the Lambda Core. Black Mesa: Source was a self funded recreation of Valve’s 1998 classic using the Source Engine, the same engine that Powers Half Life 2 and Counter Strike: Source. After running into some legal trouble the group has finally released their

Obsidian Teasing New Game “Project X”

Posted on September 11, 2012 by Joshua Rust

Obsidian Entertainment, developer of Fallout: New Vegas and Dungeon Siege 3, has released a teaser image of a new game codenamed “Project X”. No word on what the project is as of this moment, but rumors have been swirling around about a Fallout 4. Obsidian is also supposed to be working on a game for the Wheel Of Time novels by Robert Jordan. This could also be a new Dungeon Siege title or something completely new. Time will only tell, but speculation has began on the Obsidian forums. My guess, and this is pure speculation, is Fallout 4. The reason I

Jump Back Into Battlefield 3 With The Premium Edition

Posted on September 11, 2012 by Seung Lee

Don’t let the fact that Battlefield 4 is being worked on stop you from checking out the third game. Starting today, Battlefield 3 Premium Edition will be available on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC for the cost of $59.99 (used to be 10 bucks more before EA had a change of heart, strange). Now, if you’re wondering why you should even think about picking up the Premium Edition, keep in mind that it’ll come with a membership for Battlefield Premium (it’s like Call of Duty Elite, but much better in my opinion), which’ll give you free access to a

EA Retreats From Plans To Make C&C Multiplayer Only

Posted on September 10, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Fans reacted negatively upon hearing the news that 2013’s Command and Conquer will be a free-to-play multiplayer only title. It looks like EA has changed its battle plan, pre-deployment, by confirming that the game will indeed feature single player content. Despite the concerns over the free-to-play model, when speaking to The Verge, EA Reps have stated that the single campaign is indeed compatible with the games freemium model. From the sounds of things the single player for Command and Conquer may not come as a complete campaign, but an ever evolving storyline or experience that will change depending on feedback.

Steam: Big Picture Goes Public Beta

Posted on September 10, 2012 by Jason Bassett

You know that thing that Valve has been tinkering with? They call it Big Picture and it has just went into Beta. What is Big Picture?  Big Picture is just a small step in a big trend as Valve comes into the console race. Think of Big Picture as the software or Operating System to the hardware. While Valve has finally confirmed that they are indeed in the hardware race, Big Picture will let your TV get a lot more than just playing your Xbox. As an example, let’s say you have a small multimedia PC that you use for

The Guys Behind Amnesia Are Working On A New Project

Posted on September 10, 2012 by Seung Lee

Well, before I go any further, props should be given to Frictional Games and its Amnesia: The Dark Descent for finally breaking the one million sale mark. But company owner Thomas Grip says in a blog post: Despite that huge number of sales, what I think is more interesting is how good the monthly sales still are. Not counting any discounts, the monthly full price sales lie at over 10 000 units. This means that less then every 5th minute someone in the world is buying a copy of Amnesia. This is totally insane to me. The figures themselves are

Thunder Wolves Flies In With A Trailer

Posted on September 7, 2012 by Joshua Rust

Ubisoft and Most Wanted Entertainment have announced a new helicopter game called Thunder Wolves. It almost makes me reminisce about games I played way back when such as Nuclear Strike and Soviet Strike. What would it take to get those on XBLA? Anyways, Thunder Wolves will feature over 30 weapon/chopper combos and feature co-op play – one will fly the chopper and the other will shoot. Not sure how that will play out, but we’ll see (I’d prefer both players have their own chopper…but I’m not making it am I?) [youtube id=”0Tdqhdp89sk” width=”600″ height=”350″] Thunder Wolves plans to launch the

What is in this package, you may ask? Well, it gives you instant beta access, in-game exclusives such as XP boosts and guns, and a founder’s title. The Alpha Squad will cost $39.99, but it’s well worth it if you want the upper hand in Planetside 2. Trials Evolution Comes to PC, Rides Tandem Bike with Trials HD

Posted on September 6, 2012 by Jeff Wade

In a move bound to excite keyboard manufacturers, RedLynx’s Trial series is making the jump back to PC with the recently announced Trials Evolution: Gold Edition.   The PC release will collect all of the base content of this year’s Trials Evolution but will also extended the pain with all of the content from 2009’s Trials HD, including all DLC and expansions released for that game. This brings the total ammount of masochistic motocross to more than 120 tracks, minigames and multiplayer levels.

Black Mesa, a source engine powered remake of the original Half Life has remained one of the most elusive fan run projects in recent memory. On their official website the team replaced their regular blog roll with a countdown clock, leading to the release of the game’s first public beta on September 13th! The team behind this mod of epic proportions aims to recreate Valve’s 1998 classic using updated high definition graphics as well as fine tuning everything using the company’s latest engine.
