The Elder Scrolls Online Gameplay Video Released

Posted on November 9, 2012 by Les Major

Many fans were concerned when the first images of The Elder Scrolls Online were released. It looked and sort of felt more like Warcraft than The Elder Scrolls. I havn’t kept up much on the project since then and the gameplay video recently released really stands out as looking much more like the art style we’ve come to expect from the series. It really is surprising considering at times it feels more like you’re watching Skyrim third person action rather than the MMO fans were unsure about. This is really something to check out and there are quite a few details

New Dead Island: Riptide Info!

Posted on November 5, 2012 by Jesse Lord

Just got an email a bit ago from our friends at Deep Silver, chock full of new information about Dead Island: Riptide.  First of all, that handsome fellow in the featured image at the top there?  That’s John Morgan.  He’s your fifth playable character, and he ain’t one of those “play this one level designed for this character” additions to the DI franchise.  No, he’s one with whom you can play the whole campaign.  A hand-to-hand combat expert who is a Marines drop-out and has been making a living as a cook on a ship, he joins the other four

Extra Credits Indie Fund Sponsors Its First Game

Posted on November 4, 2012 by Jason Fayta

The Extra Credits Indie Fund has financed the development of its first game: Mental Drift. Thought becomes reality in this puzzle platformerwhere words from the player character’s inner monologue become tools to change the world around him. The game’s first trailer came out today to celebrate its official unveiling with the Extra Credits Indie Fund. Mental Drift debuted under the Extra Credits banner in August’s Penny Arcade Expo. Attendees were invited to play the demo and share their feedback on the game’s early development. “We want this to be the community’s project,” said James Portnow, Producer of Extra Credits. “A lot of

Fan Made Remake Of Descent In The Works

Posted on November 1, 2012 by Les Major

Modder MadMaxBLD definitely deserves kudos for beginning work on bringing back a great game of yesteryear, Descent. This is a series that I would love to see a return of, and Max’s mod/remake is a beautiful example of why. Even with what seems like the original enemies as place holders (or as a nice homage, I’m fine with either really) the concept looks just as mesmerizing again now as seeing the original was back in the day. This is definitely a mod I’d love to play. Read on for a youtube video sample.

Hitman: Absolution Video: Dynamic Audio

Posted on October 29, 2012 by Jesse Lord

Just a quick news post to highlight a video sent to my inbox this morning by our contacts at Square Enix.  Called “Dynamic Audio,” this clip emphasizes the work that goes into creating the aural mood in a game like Hitman: Absolution.  I personally find that music in video games is one of the biggest influences on me and my enjoyment of the game.  Couple a touching scene with the right music and you’ve got something that truly pulls on my heart-strings and could even see a tear roll down my cheek.  Get a nice high-beats-per-minute track down in an

Windows 8 Marketplace Will Be Selling M-Rated Titles

Posted on October 25, 2012 by Jason Bassett

It seems as though there was a slip-up over at the Microsoft legal department. Mature rated games will be finding their way back into the picture in the Windows 8 Marketplace when Windows 8 launches. Currently, under section 6.2 of the Microsoft App Store guidelines sections 6.2 states that apps or games rated PEGI 16, ESRB Mature or a corresponding rating under other ratings systems would not be added to the Windows 8 Marketplace. In video game community this alienated both consumers and developers as both would have to look else where to find games. Games like Dishonored or Bioshock Infinite would most
