Posted on December 6, 2012 by Joshua Rust

If you’re all like me and have been playing the Skylanders games with your children, you’re always on the lookout for when the next characters are releasing.  I don’t know about other regions, but the Skylanders Giants figures seem to be staying in stock pretty well – I mean, Activision & Toys For Bob can’t really make any money of scalpers right? So today it was announced that you can now pre-order Hot Dog through Gamestop.com! I’m sure you could also pre-order this in store as well. Hot Dog will be available January 1st, 2013 (assuming the world doesn’t end

End of Nations Dev Faces Layoffs, End of Beta Program

Posted on December 5, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Things are not looking good for developer Petroglyph Games and their latest RTS offering End of Nations. After going into a limited closed beta earlier this fall development on the game seems to have halted with the studio reportedly laying off 30 employees from its Las Vegas office. This sad news comes on the heels of two other announcements that transpired these past few weeks. Frist the publisher of the game, Trion Worlds, refunded any purchasers of the game’s beta access pass and now the developer has closed the official forums section for the game. Currently the next beta stress

Square-Enix Creates And Pulls Hitman Absolution Facebook App

Posted on December 4, 2012 by Broken Joysticks

In just a single day, the P.R. department representing Hitman Absolution went from celebrating the creation of a brand-new Facebook App to promote the release of said game to initiating damage control because of it. The idea of the app in question was it gave people a chance to send a virtual death threat (yes, that’s the intent of it, I kid you not) by providing a description set from a list of cruel attributes (i.e., muffin top, annoying laugh, small “breasts”, etc.) and a reason why Agent 47 should step forward and kill the person in question, along with

Bethesda has released a new patch for Dishonored bringing the game up to version 1.2 on all platforms. The majority of these fixes are rather minor including one or two encounters that invalidate a non-lethal playthroughs and a bug that prevented the game from being played offline on Steam. Check out the full list of fixes courtesy of the Bethesda Blog below: BUG FIXES Support for playing the game on multiple screens. Game Settings are now saved and restored properly even when using Steam offline. Fixes for some interactions with Granny Rags that invalidated nonlethal playthroughs under certain circumstances. There are some spoilers to the story, so stop reading if you don’t want to spoil it for yourself. Alpha Colony Kickstarter Yields Surprise Twist Ending

Posted on December 3, 2012 by Broken Joysticks

For those that were fans of the mid-80’s perennial interstellar economical multiplayer game known to many as M.U.L.E., then recently there was some good news. The developers at DreamQuest Games who have worked on a number of titles including Nexuiz and Lego Universe, had spawned a brilliant idea to replicate the classic with modern elements taken from the current generation of turn-based strategy games. The game itself would be named Alpha Colony, and would usher in a new audience to those who enjoyed such games like Settlers of Catan or Carcassonne, all the while providing a more colorful and family-friendly

Lego Lord Of The Rings Demo Now Available

Posted on December 2, 2012 by Les Major

It’s been a few weeks since the games release, but now you can adventure into Helm’s Deep to get a feel for Travelers Tales take on the battle. This seems like a great starting point since the Lord of the Rings movies did have great epic battles. It looks like the Lego game counterpart pulls that off quite well. There are some fun new mechanics here that keep up the big moments, such as riding on horseback. Like Lego Batman 2, Lego LOTR has voice overs for the characters but still sticks with lots of comical movements to tell the story. At

Genesis RPG, Pier HD, May Head To Dreamcast & Current Gen!

Posted on November 28, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

I think a lot of people in the gaming community laughed when a Sega Genesis game, Pier, was released by an independent developer in 2010. This RPG was a love letter to an RPG long past and thanks to Kickstarter the developer hopes to port the game to current gen consoles including the Xbox 360, Wii U and… the Sega Dreamcast? Originally the developer aimed to bring the game to all platforms using the original 2010 graphics but as the project’s funding grew and grew their vision became more ambitious. For those of you wondering how such a project could

Posted on November 28, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Dishonored has been a bit of a critical darling recently and Bethesda has gained from this in terms of higher than expected sales. Speaking about the title Bethesda’s Pete Hines tells Destructoid that the game is now considered a franchise. Here’s the direct quote: “We did terrific numbers again this past weekend, both in stores and on Steam, where Dishonored was listed as the #1 selling title over the holiday weekend. And Dishonored has really sold well overseas. So, we’re very pleased and appreciate all the fans that have supported Dishonored and Arkane. We clearly have a new franchise.” Did you enjoy Dishonored? We would love

Rumors, reported by Kotaku, state that Electronic Art’s next entry in the Dragon Age franchise, Dragon Age III, has shifted focused to the as unannounced Xbox 720 and PS4 rather this current generation of consoles. The source for this rumor is a LinkedIN profile for a former employee of Bioware who worked on the game as a level designer. This platform shift apparently will cause the game to be delayed from a late 2013 launch window to sometime in 2014. Kotakue reports that the unnamed employee wrote on their social resume: “Scope of the DAIII has been chaged [sic], which

Jonatan Söderström, creator of Hotline Miami has confirmed there will be a Hotline Miami 2. Earlier this week he tweeted, “Working while listening to the sweet tunes of a preliminary Hotline Miami 2 soundtrack that we’ve put together during the weekend.” Sounds like a productive Black Friday weekend indeed! He did also note however that they only have general ideas for the second game, and the team is
