Posted on April 23, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

Our two winners were: OG Nico Givenchy and Roland Sajovoelgyi     Today at Pax East I had the chance to get a hands on play test of the newest vehicular combat game on the block Crossout, made by Gaijinn entertainment the company’s own Alexander Trifonov gave us an interview and walked us through the basics of the game and Rae got a chance to go hands on. The game is at its core a sort of loot based MMO with vehicles instead of bipedal characters. The game play looks fantastic, its set in a post apocalyptic world where you spend your

Streamline is fun fast, and wacky

Posted on April 23, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

One of the first things I got to see at PAX this week was Streamline, a new game from Proletariat. The game it self is really quite simple, you play either as the broadcaster, who runs around trying to wack the contestants with a giant stop sign, or as the contestnats who run around collecting pac-man dots of varying values. Thats the whole game. I spent time playing as one of the runners who has access to a variety of jumps and a sprint. Game play is really simple, deceptively so. There are tons of ups and down areas where you

Croixleur Sigma Video And Impressions

Posted on April 22, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

During PAX East Fionna and I had a chance to check out Croixleur Sigma on the show floor at the indie megabooth. This stylized anime infused action game includes a number of different modes and during the show I got the chance to play a few solid minutes while talking with some of the developer’s PR reps. From what I played the survival mode has your character facing off against waves of enemies, stringing along combos builds your character’s score and is the key to making progress in the survival mode. Each face button on the PlayStation four controller corresponds

ITS: Into The Stars

Posted on April 18, 2016 by Kyle Scarboro

Word around the information super highway is that this little game, aptly named Into the Stars, is a hybrid of Star Trek Commander and FTL: Faster Than Light, but is it really? The people have spoken and the people are generally right. Into the Stars is filling the void of the lack of spaceship commander based games that are out there. With inspiration gathered from these games and mixing it with a collection of modern ideas and stunning graphics, Into the Stars is paving the way and breaking ground on a genre that has not been explored to its full

Stories: The Path of Destinies | Review

Posted on April 16, 2016 by Robyn Robo

“Stories: The Path of Destinies” is a fun, lighthearted action-RPG set in a high fantasy world of flying ships and sky-islands. You are going to lose, constantly, and you are going to love it. Stories is a bit like a choose your own adventure game, or the recently resurgent interactive fiction genre. It is meant to be replayed. Sessions are quick, lasting only about an hour at a time. Most of the time, though, you’ll end up making the wrong choices and perishing inevitably. That said, this is what sets “Stories” apart in the genre. Your choices define your person

Fan Overhauls Original Doom 3 To Look Amazing

Posted on April 16, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

If this weekend’s open beta for the latest doom just isn’t scratching that itch for demon infested combat on Mars then perhaps Doom III: Redux is for you.  Developed by Clear_Sterlock originally for just for his own enjoyment, Doom III: Redux adds a number of enhancements including cleaned up/higher resolution textures, audio fixes for the game’s audio-logs to make them sound more authentic and even the inclusion of cut content from the 2002 E3 leak! [youtube id=”Ic6p3HDwLD8″] Certainly this was no small undertaking especially for one person. Describing the current state of the mod, Clear_Sterlock wrote a rather long blog post about the current

Mushroom Wars | Review

Posted on April 15, 2016 by Broken Joysticks

Mushroom Wars, the acclaimed PS3 strategy game by Creat Studios, has made its way to PC. On its surface, Mushroom Wars comes across as a cutesy game that might be better suited to children than adults, with a simplistic art style and user interface. You’d be wrong to approach it this way, as the game is deceptively difficult. The game begins easily enough, with competent tutorials explaining the game’s mechanics, but rapidly becomes a tough, pure RTS experience.

Paragon’s Newest Hero Is Quite The Pair – Introducing Iggy & Scorch

Posted on April 15, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Epic Games have revealed the latest hero for their early access 3D MOBA, Paragon, and this new playable character is a bit of a hot take, if you don’t mind the pun. Iggy & Scorch might sound like two characters but as their reveal trailer shows – it doesn’t look like the pair can be separated, with the reptilian Iggy always attached to the fire breathing Scorch whenever possible! This pair have the ability to launch missiles, Scorch is able to roast foes with fire breath and their ultimate move calls down hell-fire from the skies! The pair will be available in

If you’ve wanted to jump in on older Activision games like 2012’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD, which seems to be several times better than last year’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 now is the time time to do so for less than $5! Here’s the some of the better deals in the Activision Publisher Sale (in Canadian Dollars): Call of Duty

Bugbear Entertainment, developers of the highly anticipated Next Car Game (later renamed Wreckfest) have filed for bankruptcy. The news surfaced from Finnish financial information website, asiakastieto.fi, when it published a list of all Finnish companies that had file for bankruptcy in March of this year. Further Oculus Rift Delays Due To Microsoft?

Posted on April 12, 2016 by Broken Joysticks

Today Oculus announced further delays on Rift shipments, potentially as long as two months for some customers, sparking outrage amongst VR fans. The company confirmed once again that the delay was due to a component shortage, and that they were shipping units as quickly as possible. Oculus still remains tight-lipped on what component exactly has caused the shortage, but that hasn’t stopped Reddit users from speculating. Multiple theories, ranging from issues with the camera used to track the headset, to a lack of wireless Xbox One dongles, were made. According to a post to Reddit by a supposed Oculus employee, under

Check Out The Evolution of Half-Life 2’s Prison In This Video Compilation

Posted on April 10, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

It is well known that the story, environment and even characters of Valve’s classic shooter Half-Life 2 went through many different iterations during the game’s five year development.  YouTube user TalonBrave.info have taken it upon themselves to chronicle the many different changes the Nova Prospekt map (once simply known as ‘Prison’) underwent throughout 2002. Speaking about one particular unused area called ‘The Caffiteria’ TalonBrave wrote: “The level you’re seeing here is from a VMF named cafeteria, which appears to have been produced by David Sawyer; who was a designer at Valve, who produced most of the iterations of the Prison that we’re going

Survival Mode Added To Metal Gear Solid V Online

Posted on April 9, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

The latest patch for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain adds a brand new online survival mode that can be played on all platforms. Somewhat buried in the official patch notes is mention that the new Survival Mode is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC – players must use a consumable item called “survival tickets” to access this new mode. Each player is given 10 survival tickets per weeks during weekly maintenance and the free tickets do not rollover from week to week. By purchasing the “Cloaked in Silence” expansion DLC for $4 players can try out survival mode
