Breaking All The Rules With Lawbreakers [E3 Hands-On]

Posted on June 21, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

The man behind Microsoft’s chainsaw wielding Gears of War franchise, Cliff Bleszinski left Epic Games back in 2012 but he hasn’t been sitting idle in the subsequent four years. He’s formed a new studio, BossKey, and they brought an alpha version of their upcoming arena shooter Lawbreakers with them to Los Angeles last week. After playing several rounds of this in your face shooter at E3 with the development team and quite a few hours with the Friends & Family alpha at home, I’m here to tell you how CliffyB is about to come back in a big way! Lawbreakers is a role-based

Koihime Enbu a fighting game with cute girls | review

Posted on June 20, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

Koihime Enbu is one of those games that surprised me, I was offered the chance to review it by the publisher Degica and honestly was planning on taking a pass until I saw some of the still images that went with its PR packet. I am a huge sucker for cute girls, and this game is full of them. So I booted it up. I was expecting sort of Tekken vibe, and was rewarded with a satisfying and easy to get in to fighter that does lack some depth but is still fun. There is a lot here to explore

Space Marines arrive in Battlefleet Gothic Armada

Posted on June 19, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

Battle Fleet Gothic is near and dear to our hearts here at Brokenjoysticks. I have about 40 hours in the game our number one streamer Rob has a ton more even than that, so you know we love the game. Right now your coming up on the end of the early adopter period where you can get  Battlefleet Gothic: Armada. Getting it now means you  get a couple of DLC races for free: the Space Marines and the Tau. Those Space Marines are due to arrive on June 21, which also is the last date to buy the game as an “early

First time VR experience from a total newb featuring War Thunder VR and the HTC Vive

Posted on June 19, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

So while attending E3 this year I had the chance to check out the amazing War Thunder from from Gaijen entertainment in vivid amazing VR, with the help of and HTC Vive and the amazing  Warthog Hotas from Thrustmaster. I had never experienced VR before, having missed the whole wave of VR. Both because of price, and because of generally not liking to adopt things before they get to their full and ripe potential. (remember Windows Vista? I was day on on that you would stop early adopting too). So this was really a cold entry in to the VR sphere for

E3 2016: Lucid Sound Heaphones Ears-On

Posted on June 16, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Lucid is hoping to change the landscape of affordable gaming focused headsets that were the focus of the companies’ E3 2016 offerings. Consisting of the readily available LS30 headphones and the upcoming LS40 & LS50 headsets, LiquidSound is poised to offer a range of headsets whose features rival their competition. Don’t count out LiquidSound just yet because I’ve been using a pair of LS30s for all of the video editing that I’ve done during the convention. Read on to find out why you should give these up & coming headphones a listen before choosing your next gaming headset. The LS40

E3: Hands-On With Sniper Elite 4

Posted on June 16, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

I had the chance to hook up with Rebellion and to try out their newest entry in to the long running Sniper Elite series. Sniper Elite 4 will be releasing  Feb 14th 2017, but Brokenjoysticks was part of a select few who were able to try the game in its alpha state today. The demo was about 30 minutes long and featured a wide open Italian country side setting, with a primary mission being to blow up a viaduct by placing a satchel charge and then shooting it to blow it up. Loading in to the game the first thing I

Forget Sports Managers, Here’s A Management RPG

Posted on June 15, 2016 by Renee Gittins

While I enjoy sports here and there, I never quite understood the draw of sports management games. Now that I’ve seen Epic Tavern, I can understand the appeal: recruit, manage and reap the rewards from your own heroes. Enjoy their victories, work against their failures and quirks. It just so happens that my heroes swing swords at dragons, not throw balls around. Epic Tavern promises to “[combine] classic RPG elements with a unique combination of roster management and social simulation gameplay” as you run your tavern. As the tavernmaster, you must make many decisions, from the adventurers you recruit to the

Astro annoucnes new flagship A-50 wireless headset

Posted on June 15, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

Today I had the chance to see the all new Astro A-50 wireless headset. Astro just announced this headset, which is compatible with the Xbox, PS4, and PC. Many Astro fans no doubt long for the days when the A40 was the top of the world of headsets. Astro hopes to return to these glory days with the new A50 wireless gaming headset. I got a a chance to see the product which will be out in August of this year before it was available to the general public at Astros booth at E3. Some of the cooler features that

Capcom announces Resident Evil 7

Posted on June 14, 2016 by Jason Nason

It’s going to get seriously creep in July. Capcom showed off a teaser trailer for Resident Evil 7 biohazard at the Sony Interactive Entertainment E3 press conference last night. And it looks slick. Resident Evil 7 looks to be going back to its roots as it puts the story right back to where it all began – in the middle of nowhere. And to make things even more terrifying the game is going to be set in first person view in a photorealistic style. There hasn’t been a first person Resident Evil game since the side-game Reside Evil Survivor. Resident

E3 Hands-On: Titanfall 2 Multiplayer

Posted on June 14, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

At EA’s new publicly accessible EA Play Event two teams of paramilitary soldiers battle it out for supremacy in multiplayer matches of Titanfall 2. I got the chance alongside our own Fionna Fox to try out one ten minute match during our visit to EA Play this afternoon. Find out why Titanfall 2 looks to take everything good from the first game and some great new mechanics that change how the flow of battle unfurls. I played one of the two available classes in the EA Access demo version of the game – this class came complete with an automatic

EA play is it necessary?

Posted on June 14, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

So this year EA has decided that they need to have their own E3, right next to E3, but in the days leading up to E3. Well, Rae and myself managed to get media registered and get ourselves in to EA Play (which is what the event is called) where we were able to see and play the best upcoming EA titles. This is a major change from a closed show floor that’s normally seen. Anyone who was in LA could walk up to the desk and register for the chance to go in and play EA’s biggest suite of

Killing Floor Comes To The World Of VR In A New Release

Posted on June 13, 2016 by Les Major

Killing Floor Incursion
Creating experiences in VR is a difficult task, and a unique one. Seeing what is happening on a TV screen and experiencing it through a pair of goggles are two separate worlds really. As discussed during the E3 2016 PC show even something like gun recoil needs to be rethought for VR. It needs to feel powerful just the same, but not take the user out of the experience. The game itself cannot control the players head. Instead developers need to find new ways to convey the sorts of motion and also direct the players attention toward the action as

Gears of War Slices Its Way Onto Xbox One This Fall

Posted on June 13, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

The Coliation showed off the world premiere demo for Gears of War 4 at the Microsoft E3 briefing in Los Angeles. Fans of the series will be right at home with the return of the series trademark behind cover gameplay, with some new additions of course – we saw one weapon in particular that looked to be straight out of Unreal Tournament, similar to the ripper it launched devastating blade projectiles at the enemy, A female protagonist is front and center in this demonstration – from what we know of her story-line she will be attempting to find her mother.
