DOOM Developers Rollout Vulkan Graphics Options, Boosts Performance On Older Hardware

Posted on July 11, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

ID Software has released a major patch for this past May’s DOOM which enables support for the Vulkan graphics API. To the casual observer, this may be unexciting news as games typically support a number of graphic options ranging from DirectX 12, Open GL to Open CL. Vulkan isn’t just a new alternative for developers but may also provide large benefits for players on older hardware. Vulkan will allow players on newer graphics cards, like the Radeon 480 and Geforce 1070  to experiences higher frame-rates than those available through pre-existing rendering options. Evolve Developer Refers To Game As ‘DLC Shit Show’, Will Be Taking A New Direction

Posted on July 7, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Is Turtle Rock Studio’s 4 Vs 1 shooter Evolve even a blip on the radar of gaming’s collective attention span? Perhaps that is why the co-founder of the studio referred to the game as a ‘DLC shit storm’ in a rather lengthy blog post explaining their new vision for the game – free to play. Evolve was a huge success, marketing wise, prior to its’ release in February of 2015. With over 65 awards under its belt and an entire season pass of content under its belt, it seems like all of the good will that existed up until the

Hyperdimension Neptunia V.II Now Available On Steam

Posted on July 5, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Idea Factory International’s latest fourth wall breaking, self referential JRPG Hyper Dimension Neptunia VII is now available on Steam for Windows PC. Neptunia VII sees the return of several key characters from the console wars of GamesIndustri – heroine Neptunia, medic Compa and Neptune’s little sister Nepgear. Neptunia VII brings several new features to the franchise including the ability for characters to link up for joint attacks allowing your party to reduce enemy stats and enter ‘Giant Battles’. Unlike other titles in the franchise VII actually tells three different interconnecting narratives across three different scenarios. I reviewed the PlayStation 4

Hard Reset Redux Review | An Amazing Example of What Remade Games Can Be

Posted on July 5, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

2011 was a big year for a lot of people. Many huge events happened that year, so it can be forgiven if you didn’t notice Flying Wild Hog publishing their love story to old school atmospheric cyber punk shooters, which they called Hard Reset. The game was a love story to the old slower paced atmospheric shooter. No regenerating health, a boat load of weapons, and a complex story that involves tons of cut scenes in a comic book style of narrative. Now they are back with Hard Reset Redux. This game has a story but if you asked me

TMARTN is in trouble, affiliation with CS:GOlotto.com revealed

Posted on July 4, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

We dont usually go in for drama here at Brokenjoysticks, but this particular story is honestly too egregious not to report on. I can not confirm any of this information personally, but I encourage you to watch both of the videos and give careful thought to what you do with your money. Seems like we cant go a week with out some fresh new drama popping up in the world of big money YouTube. Scandals seems to be as common as video content itself.  YouTuber Honor The call has published two videos where he alleges Trevor Martin (Tmartin) is running CS:GOlotto.com.  I

Blizzard Teases New ‘Heroes of the Storm’ Content’ With New ‘In Development’ Trailer

Posted on July 1, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Developers at Blizzard Entertainment aren’t wasting any time creating new content that will surely fill the nexus for the coming weeks or months. In the latest ‘in-development’ trailer we get a brand new look at two new heroes currently being finalized – Gul’dan and Auriel. New additions to the roster aside, Blizzard also showed off a number of new skins for existing heroes like Johanna and Mi-Ling as well as what will surely be at least two legendary skins. New Heroes Gul’dan, is of course, the former Orc shaman who hails from Draenor and was the founder of The Horde in Warcraft lore. He has

Do you Love VN’s? Now you can make your own with VN Maker!

Posted on July 1, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

If you know me, you know I am no stranger to Visual Novels (VN’s). I write news about them. I review them. My steam is full of them! So obviously I love VN’s.  I am obviously not the only one who is an admirer of the medium. Degica has decided to bring the experience of creating Visual Novels to Steam this summer.   The Makers Degica is no stranger to maker games, being responsible for the massive RPG maker series so loved by amateur game programmers. So i makes sense that they would publish a similar tool for Visual Novels.

G2A to offer developers royalties from second party sales

Posted on June 29, 2016 by Fionna Schweit

G2A has been getting a ton of attention recently. Their most recent scandal was that they may have sold 45,000$ of Tinybuild games. which we wrote about here.  G2A have responded to the accusations and the fight goes on. But, this is only the most recent of scandals that G2A have had to weather.  Second party markets all over the internet have come under fire for selling stolen keys. As a member of press I often have to deal with people asking me to send them email from a non-personal email address. This is why our domain email exist. Developers especially

Battle.net Endures DDOS Attack

Posted on June 29, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Blizzard Entertainment’s Battle.net service was the target of a Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attack this past evening. Customer service agents announced the service distribution on one of the company’s official twitter accounts. Users reported connection problems with games like Overwatch on Reddit, with several posts being unable to even sign-in to the Battle.net launcher. Over the course of this outage our staff noticed considerable lag and matchmaking issues with Overwatch as well. The entire attack lasted roughly seven hours – at least that the time difference between Blizzard CS announcing the attack and sounding the all clear. [#BNet] We are currently monitoring a
