January 17th Nintendo Download

Posted on January 17, 2013 by Jason Nason

No love for DSiWare this week as the week’s releases are confined to the Wii U and 3DS. Nintendo released the highly anticipated Fire Emblem Awakening demo today as well as Kirby’s Star Stacker for the 3DS Virtual Console and the quirky Tokyo Crash Mobs. Otherwise there’s a couple of older 3DS retail titles added to digital download and the addition of Amazon Instant Video to the Wii U. Somewhat of a slow week on the download front this week.

Nintendo has revealed the release dates of some upcoming titles for the next few months, for the Wii, Wii U, DS and 3DS consoles. “During the holidays we saw new players respond positively to new game-play experiences using the Wii U GamePad controller and the true 3D of Nintendo 3DS,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “With such a diverse lineup of games on the horizon, people will experience a variety of ways to play, whether they’re using the GamePad to scan for criminals or seeing ghosts in 3D on the Nintendo 3DS

The Cave, a puzzle solving adventure game that takes place in a cave, is set to release next week for PS3, Xbox 360, WiiU, and PC for $15 (or 1200 MSP). It is developed by the fine folks over at Double Fine (Costume Quest, Brutal Legend, Happy Action Theater) and for fans of games like Trine…you should definitely stop and take a look at this game. Throughout the game you will be able to control 3 of 7 different characters at any given time to solve puzzles – with the ultimate goal of reaching the bottom of the cave! For

Posted on January 16, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Remember Operation Rainfall? Well they’ve finally got their wish; Pandora’s Tower has been confirmed for a North American release thanks to the folks at XSeed. No solid release date on the game just yet but aside from confirmation Xseed did provide Kotaku with an excerpt describing the game, which I’ve included below. Operation Rainfall was a fan run campaign to bring three Japanese RPGs for the Nintendo Wii to North America. Well, the years of waiting have paid off, because since their kick off a few years ago we’ve seen the release of The Last Story and Xenoblade Chronicles. In

Posted on January 8, 2013 by Rae Michelle Richards

Those little Pocket Monsters have been confined to the Nintendo 3DS for the better part of seven years now, but no longer are they stuck in the previous generation with the announcement of Pokemon XY. Two new games, Pokemon Y and Pokemon X are in development for the Nintendo 3DS, marking the series’ six generation of games, after the release of Black & White for the DS in 2010. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Achievements Revealed

Posted on December 7, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Metal Gear Rising
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance got a whole slew of updates over the last 24 hours. Konami released the full achievement list for the game over at Xbox 360 achievements. If you’re going to be slicing and dicing along Raiden then you’ll want to know when you hear that sweet “unlock sound effect” right? There is your fair share of achievements that everyone who plays through the game will unlock, like an achievement for beating each chapter (called files). The harder achievements like beating each of the game’s files with an S rank on the hardest difficulty will of course be

Eurocom Enters Administration, Lays Off Staff

Posted on December 7, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

This past fall’s 007 Legends wasn’t particularly well received by critics, including us. It looks like the developers behind the game, Eurocom have closed their doors for good as they enter “administration”, as reported by Eurogamer. A company in the U.K entering administration is similar to one filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy here in North America, they have effectively laid-off their entire 150 person workforce. Prior to working on 007 Legends Eurocom released the well received James Bond title, GoldenEye Reloaded, on the Nintendo Wii and then Ps3/Xbox 360 one year later. Other notable projects over their 25 year history

PS Vita Firmware 2.01 Now Live

Posted on December 4, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

PlayStation Vita owners hold on your hats because a new firmware is now live! Okay, so it’s a minor update but it does fix a rather nasty bug that occurred when attempting to sync your PS+ Vita game saves to the cloud. Hopefully no one reading this has lost their saves, with great games like Gravity Rush and Uncharted: Golden Abyss on PSN Plus it would be a shame to have to restart. The update was announced on twitter this morning and should only take a few moments to apply. On twitter Sony wrote: “PS Vita system software update 2.01

Ubisoft’s U-Play App Now Available on Nintendo E-Shop

Posted on December 2, 2012 by Jason Bassett

Yesterday, Ubisoft officially released the U-Play app and is now available through the Nintendo Wii-U’s EShop. When the user downloads and installs the application, the user will need to enter a username and password to access special features upon using the application. Some of the features the user has access to are information of games that Ubisoft releases, rewards, achievements and other content. Some of the content, however is still locked like U-Play TV, friends, and even more interestingly enough the the U-Play shop. When checking the Ubisoft website, these features are listed as Coming Soon. Some of the games having

Genesis RPG, Pier HD, May Head To Dreamcast & Current Gen!

Posted on November 28, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

I think a lot of people in the gaming community laughed when a Sega Genesis game, Pier, was released by an independent developer in 2010. This RPG was a love letter to an RPG long past and thanks to Kickstarter the developer hopes to port the game to current gen consoles including the Xbox 360, Wii U and… the Sega Dreamcast? Originally the developer aimed to bring the game to all platforms using the original 2010 graphics but as the project’s funding grew and grew their vision became more ambitious. For those of you wondering how such a project could
