Wii U Closes out 2014 with Biggest Sales Month in the System’s History

Wii U established new benchmarks for hardware and software sales in a single month in December. This helped total hardware and software sales in 2014 increase by more than 29 percent and more than 75 percent, respectively, over sales in 2013. Nintendo 3DS also had a strong December, including its largest month ever for first-party software sales. New 3DS Launches In North America On Feb 13th

The rest of the world received Nintendo’s most recent iteration of their flagship handheld the New Nintendo 3DS last fall and now the console maker has taken the wraps off of their North American launch plans. The New Nintendo 3DS XL will be available in Canada and the United States on February 13th for a suggested retail price of $229.99 CDN. Nintendo Direct Set for January 14th at 9:00am ET

Nintendo has today announced that a Nintendo Direct will air tomorrow, Wednesday January 14th, with the news focusing on Nintendo 3DS and Wii U releases for spring 2015. The broadcast will be hosted by Nintendo President Satoru Iwata. Unfortunately we’ll be out of the office during the Direct, but check back here afterwards for a wrap up of what went down!

Circle Bringing Fairune to 3DS This Month

CIRCLE Entertainment is bringing a retro-style puzzle ARPG to the Nintendo 3DS very soon. Develped by Skipmore and FlyHigh Works, who have done previous games CIRCLE has released, the game is a very simple ARPG to play. The story revolves around a girl, who has been chosen to become a heroine. An adventure filled with mystery awaits her. Super Smash Bros. Fastest Selling Wii U Title to Date

Nintendo announced some sales figures for Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U yesterday and the numbers are looking good. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is now the fastest-selling Wii U title ever in the U.S. market, beating out previous title Mario Kart 8, with more than 490,000 physical and digital units combined sold during the three-day period of November 21st through November 23rd.
