amiibo Functionality added in Newest 3DS Update

Posted on June 1, 2015 by Jason Nason

If you’re like me today you were prompted to update your Nintendo 3DS system today when entering the eShop. The relatively quick update added a new option within the settings home settings menu. Tap on the home icon on the top left of your screen and then scroll down to see a newly added option for “amiibo Settings.” From this menu you can register the owner and nickname of your amiibo, delete amiibo game data, reset your amiibo as well as update the Nintendo 3DS NFC Reader/Writer. Of course that peripheral isn’t even available yet so you can’t really do

My Nintendo Wishlist for E3

Posted on May 31, 2015 by Jason Nason

The last few years haven’t been the most overwhelming for longtime Nintendo fans, and have been somewhat underwhelming. I think that what has left me disappointed has been the lack of big announcements as well as announcements of games with no release date. Sure it’s great to know that a new Zelda game is in the works, but knowing that I’m going to have to wait a year or more for the game isn’t exciting. It’s a tease. That’s why I’m hoping that Nintendo brings their cards to E3 this year and lays down an exciting hand. There is a

Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition Impressions

Posted on May 20, 2015 by Jason Nason

So there’s one kind of game that I actually really enjoy, which is apparent if you read my previous review of Spirit Stones, it’s the sliding tile games. And not just any old sliding tile games, but the ones where you get stuff. Sure, Candy Crush is fun (from what I’m told) but I don’t see the point. However games where I get to defeat enemies and collect cards or monsters? I’m in! Puzzle & Dragons is this game, and the Super Mario Bros. Edition adds a bit of the Nintendo flavour to it. I’ll be honest. I didn’t know

Nintendo of America has confirmed that they will hold a second Global Test Fire for their colorful upcoming third person shooter Splatoon. If you already have the Global Test Fire Demo installed on your Wii U you should be good to go, otherwise make sure to grab it before the one hour stress test on May 23rd between 3pm – 4pm (Pacific Time). Otafest 2015 Made Me Realize Amiibo Scalping Is Out of Control

Posted on May 17, 2015 by Rae Michelle Richards

Over this past weekend I got the chance to check out a pretty cool convention in Calgary Alberta called Otafest – which is held annually at the University of Calgary. Amongst the collectable pins, wall-scrolls, figures, videogames and other regular convention merchandise one particular thing caught my eye – the absolute absurd amount of money scalpers were asking for some of the rarer amiibos. Is it time for Nintendo to step in and begin producing some of harder to find miniature figures?

Nintendo to Release Silver Mario amiibo

Posted on May 14, 2015 by Jason Nason

Nintendo announced today the release of another new amiibo, which I will never get my hands on. A new Mario Silver Edition amiibo figure is slated for release on May 29th and while the figure is still a few weeks from hitting store shelves, the figure has already disappeared from some online retailers. The silver Mario figure has quickly sold out on Amazon.ca, but at this time Best Buy is still taking preorders. With quantities certainly limited that may not last very long.

A-Train 3D: City Simulator | REVIEW

Posted on May 14, 2015 by Jason Nason

Anyone that knows me knows that I’m a big transit guy. I love buses and trains alike, so the thought of a game where I can design my own train and bus network? That’s my kind of game. In fact when I saw the title of the game pop up I was taken aback as I’ve played this game before, at least one of it’s predecessors. I originally played A-Train WAY way back on the original PlayStation. Released by Maxis it was a fun game back in the day, but I remember being frustrated by the game. Perhaps it was

Amiibo Tap Isn’t Just A Time Limited Demo Player

Posted on May 12, 2015 by Les Major

When I first heard about Amiibo Tap, I kind of glazed over it. Basically it sounded like I could play a time limited trial of a classic NES or SNES game. Of course we’ve been there and done that with other releases. We’re gaming press of course though, so we took a look to see what this new release was and were quite surprised! At first, the software sounds pretty bland. • Dozens of games and scenes to discover • Each amiibo figure unlocks a random game to sample included in this software’s selection of titles But then you get
