Monster Hunter Stories | Review

Posted on October 5, 2017 by Meghan Kass

“When a monster strikes, the fearful hide, but the brave? They ride” So goes what should be the motto of all Hunters, young and old. Long time fans of the beloved Capcom franchise, Monster Hunter, might have been fearful at the idea  of the spin-off “Monster Hunter Stories” when first discovered it would be a fairly large departure from the typical Monster Hunter game they have all come to know and love, but what of those who were brave and gave this Monster a ride? Was “Monster Hunter Stories” a pleasant addition? Or was this a bad egg? A closer

Posted on September 30, 2017 by Jason Nason

Nintendo announced on Friday that they are planning to shut down the Wii Shop Channel in just over a year. On January 30th, 2019, Nintendo will close the Wii Shop Channel, which has been available on Wii systems since December 2006. Now that customers have shifted to Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo plans to focus their efforts in those areas. It should be noted that content downloaded on the Wii Shop Channel can be transferred to a Wii U system using the Wii System Transfer Tool. You can still add Wii Points until March 26th, 2018,

One To Watch: Gear.Club Unlimited On Nintendo Switch

Posted on September 27, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Previously mobile only racing title Gear.Club will be hitting the breaks on mobile exclusivity with the release of Gear.Club Unlimited on the Nintendo Switch this December. This past week the developers at Eden Games revealed the full lineup of 30 real-world cars that will be featured in this updated port.  Featuring cars from famous manufacturers like BMW, Ford, Mercedes, and Nissan – Gear.Club is unique in terms of its realism on Nintendo’s latest console. It might not feature the 100s of makes & models like the Sony’s Gran Turismo franchise but when the closest competition on the Switch involves go karts firing turtle shells, 30 different real-world vehicles is plenty.   I’ve been playing

Posted on September 19, 2017 by Jason Nason

It’s been a few months since the last system update, with the last update in July, but the Nintendo 3DS firmware has been updated again. This is a very minor update which updates the 3DS system from version 11.5.0-38U to version 11.6.0-39U. There aren’t any big changes in this update, with the only text on the update the very same as the previous updates. The text from Nintendo as follows: “Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.” This update is required to access online services.

Square surprises with Octopath Traveller for Nintendo Switch

Posted on September 17, 2017 by Jason Nason

So I was caught caught off guard with the announcement of a title that wasn’t on my radar but has quickly caught my attention. That game is a brand new RPG offering from the fine folks at Square Enix called Project Octopath Traveler (working title). The game is being developed by the producers of Bravely Default at Square Enix and is a new RPG brought to life through a mixture of CG, pixel art and visual wizardry. Project Octopath Traveler launches worldwide in 2018. But there is already a free demo for the game in Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch.

New Layton game on the way in October

Posted on September 14, 2017 by Jason Nason

Despite the fact that I have yet to actually try any of the previous games in the series there was one game that I’m pretty interested in trying. The games is the latest in the Layton series from Level 5 and comes to the Nintendo 3DS in October. Layton’s Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires’ Conspiracy arrives on October 6th and is the next game in the franchise. The puzzle solving / adventure title is a single player affair and features a brand new adventure in the Layton series, this time with a female protagonist.

Sine Mora EX Has A Date With The Nintendo Switch

Posted on September 12, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Sine Mora EX – the beautiful 2.5D shoot’em up co-developed by Grasshopper Manufacture and Digital Reality makes a pass at the Nintendo Switch in North America and Europe thanks to THQ Nordic. In this sometimes-brutal bullet hell title, players guide a three-dimensional ship along the X and Y axis while avoiding the sea of oncoming bullets. Complimenting the vibrant art style is a unique health mechanic where each stage has an allotted amount of time – taking damage speeds up the countdown while routing enemies adds time back to the countdown clock.  Several enhancements have been made when compared with the 2012 original for the Nintendo Switch release including support for 16:9 resolutions, full English voice over, an improved
