Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Coming to Mobile Devices in Late November

Posted on October 24, 2017 by Jason Nason

One of Nintendo’s most enduring franchises, Animal Crossing is coming to mobile devices for the first time in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. The new smart device game allows players to decorate and expand their camper home, and learn more about the community they are part of. In the first Animal Crossing game for mobile devices, you can interact with animal friends, craft furniture items and gather resources while managing a campsite. It’s a slight departure from the core Animal Crossing gameplay but it looks like another laid back and enjoyable experience. Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp launches on iOS- and Android-compatible mobile devices in late November. “As

Pokemon Go Has Been Dropping Less Items For Some Players For A While Now

Posted on October 24, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Walking through downtown Calgary tonight I decided to login to Pokemon Go for the first time in several months and catch some spooky monsters from the Halloween event. My usual walking route contains approximately 20 or so PokeStops including a few Gyms, so when walking it forward & back, filling my item bag is usually par for the course. Except for tonight I noticed something odd – every Stop/Gym was only giving me two items. What the hell…  After some sleuthing (e.g. Using Google) it turns out the Niantic has been messing with the drop rates of both PokeStops & Gyms for at least the past two weeks. Back on October 11th Reddit user, vtmcouver reported that they had begun

Animal Crossing Direct coming Tuesday

Posted on October 23, 2017 by Jason Nason

Nintendo announced this morning that there will be a special Nintendo Direct planned for tomorrow. The Direct will be focused solely on the Animal Crossing mobile app. A mobile app based in the Nintendo franchise was announced long ago with no details aside from being dated for 2017. The presentation tomorrow should give us all the information we need including release date, pricing, as well as just what the app will be about. Will this be a mobile version of the popular game? Will it connect somehow to the 3DS title or allow for some functionality between the two titles?

Nostalgia Fueled ‘New 3DSXL SNES Edition’ Confirmed For North America

Posted on October 23, 2017 by Rae Michelle Richards

Not simply content with mining the nostalgia from our collective youth with the recently released SNES Classic Mini, Nintendo of America has confirmed that the previously Europe exclusive ‘New 3DSXL: SNES Edition’ will be coming to our shores on November 27th.  Setting the North American version apart from its colorful European counterpart is, of course, the muted color scheme of light & dark purples featured on the face buttons. Combining the familiar North American SNES controller ABXY button colors with the soft grey of the console’s housing – this limited edition New 3DSXL mimics Nintendo’s 16-bit console faithfully.   No word yet on if you leave your New 3DS XL SNES

The latest firmware update for Nintendo Switch is here, bringing our home menus to version 4.0 but also adding a feature that has been missing since launch: the ability to capture video clips. NBA Playgrounds | Review

Posted on October 16, 2017 by Meghan Kass

When I was young, I played quite a bit of sports games. I especially favored the NES and SNES sports games. I have fond memories of Tecmo Bowl, Excitebike, Punch Out, Super Tennis and of course NBA Jam. Ever since then, I have fallen out of favor with sports games and mostly thought it would be a genre I wouldn’t be inclined to return to. What a surprise to me that when I played NBA Playgrounds for the Nintendo Switch, many of the same feelings of fun I had playing those old sports games came back to me and gave
