Fear Effect Sedna | Nintendo Switch Review

Posted on April 5, 2018 by Meghan Kass

There is a saying that goes “jack of all trades, master of none”. This was what came to mind while I was playing Square Enix’s newly licensed game Fear Effect Sedna. While this in no way means Fear Effect Sedna is a terrible game, it does suffer from trying to accomplish t0 many things at once while not particularly achieving greatness in anything. Fear Effect Sedna was brought to life via Kickstarter campaign from developer Sushee and is the third installment in the Fear Effect franchise. The original Fear Effect was a PlayStation 1 era game and this new addition

Just like in March, codes for April’s legendary pair of Entei or Raikou will be available exclusively via the Pokémon Trainer Club newsletter arriving in April. I missed the deadline last month to sign up for an account, though a lot of people have complained that even though they had signed up they never got the newsletter. You can sign up for one for free here, though it appears you’ll need to sign up multiple times with multiple emails if you’re like me and have copies of Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, AND Ultra Moon. Be sure to register for the

Hasbro and Nintendo join forces to add Mario Kart twist to Monopoly game

Posted on March 30, 2018 by Jason Nason

Today marks the launch of the Monopoly Gamer: Mario Kart Edition game. This new MONOPOLY game introduces the fun and competition of Mario Kart through iconic characters and unique gameplay. The game looks, at least on the surface, to be a reskin of the previously released Monopoly Gamer, which played somewhat like Mario Party. Throughout the game, players will pass – and potentially purchase – iconic Mario Kart themed properties such as Rainbow Road and Bowser’s Castle, while simultaneously encountering familiar challenges like dodging Banana Peels, tossing Shells and scooping up Super Star spaces to win the game. To introduce

The Alliance Alive | REVIEW

Posted on March 28, 2018 by Jason Nason

I had a lot of trouble getting into The Alliance Alive, which by all means has all of the elements of a great RPG.  The trouble with the game doesn’t come from any issues with the game itself, but comes with the presentation. While all of the elements are there, and the game is a solid title to be sure, when you stack it up and compare it with similar titles, The Alliance Alive feels very underwhelming. Underwhelming – that’s how I felt while playing through the game, which I’ll admit I still have a ways to go. I must

Posted on March 26, 2018 by Jason Nason

As of today, it is no longer possible to add points to the Wii Shop Channel using either a credit card or Nintendo Points Card. Any points added before that date can be used to purchase content on the Wii Shop Channel until January 30, 2019. On January 30th, 2019, Nintendo will close the Wii Shop Channel, which has been available on Wii systems since December 2006. Now that customers have shifted to Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo plans to focus their efforts in those areas. It should be noted that content downloaded on the Wii

Version Reviewed: Nintendo Switch Another Example of Why Games Matter Everyone has a mountain to climb, sometimes symbolically, sometimes literally. Everyone has their own journey they need to go on and their own life goals. It is in this way, I believe everyone can relate at least a little to the game Celeste.   Celeste was brought to you by the Canadian team, “Matt Makes Games”, who also brought us Towerfall back in 2013 for PS Vita, PS4, Xbox One, PC and other platforms. Celeste is a 2-D platformer that makes full use of Microsoft’s now defunct XNA framework. The

Bomb Chicken blowing up on Switch this Summer

Posted on March 21, 2018 by Jason Nason

One of the games highlighted in Nintendo’s Nindies presentation looks like it’s going to be a blast. No pun intended. The game in question is Bomb Chicken from Nitrome. And who wouldn’t want to play a good old-fashioned chicken platformer? Bomb Chicken is a fast-paced game that combines action, puzzles and arcade gameplay. You’ll lay bombs to escape tricky situations and discover secret areas when Bomb Chicken launches first on Nintendo Switch this summer. It will be released later on Steam. Story wise, after a freak accident, a seemingly ordinary chicken becomes a bomb laying free range hero. Explore the

Posted on March 20, 2018 by Jason Nason

In a Nindies Showcase video released during this year’s Game Developers Conference, Nintendo featured more than a dozen independent games coming to Nintendo eShop on the Nintendo Switch system in 2018. “Nindies” is of course the term for independent developers making games for Nintendo systems. “Since the launch of Nintendo Switch, we’ve continued to be blown away with the amount of high-quality games coming from our passionate Nindie developers, and the positive fan reception for those experiences,” said Damon Baker, Nintendo of America’s Senior Manager for Publisher & Developer Relations. “This talented and ever-growing community of Nindies has found a home on
