The newest Kirby game, which was previously announced in another Nintendo Direct, has been given a new name and several new features have been revealed.
The game, now called Kirby: Triple Deluxe, will still be a traditional side-scrolling platformer. Players will now be able to send the round pink hero to and from the background and foreground, much like recent eShop game Mutant Mudds did. Kirby will also use a new Hypernova ability, which powers up his inhale ability and enables him to suck up everything in his path. In total the game will have more than 20 different copy abilities, four of which are brand new ones created for this game.
In addition to the regular game there will be two exciting new game modes included. Kirby Fighters is perhaps the most exciting of the revelations as this new mode lets up to four players battle it out, playing as Kirby in one of 10 copy abilities from he game. The game looks like it plays something like Super Smash Bros. Very exciting stuff.
The last new game mode is called Dedede’s Drum Dash in which players to press buttons in sync with Kirby music while jumping and collecting coins.
Kirby: Triple Deluxe is set to launch on the Nintendo 3DS in 2014, though no final date has been announced.
