Disgaea D2 Isn’t A Remake, It’s A Sequel

With our review for Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness just around the corner, I wanted to address fans who aren’t quite sure of what they’ve seen on the store shelves as of late. Disgaea D2, or Disgaea Dimension 2 as it’s known in Japan, is a direct sequel to the original title released ten years ago. Though even if you’ve never played a game in the series before, you won’t be left out in the dark. It’s easy to get into. Spoilers follow, but if you’re looking for reasons to pick it up, read on!

So Laharl may call himself the Overlord of the Netherworld but he still isn’t respected as such. That’s where this sequel picks up with Etna and Flonne joining our “hero” on his quest to convince the Netherworld of his rulership. Meanwhile in the process you’ll encounter Laharl’s late father Krichevskoy’s followers who believe the prince isn’t right for the job, an angel from Celestia who believes she is Laharl’s sister, and even end up battle your way through an Idol concert after Laharl is turned into a girl by mysterious flowers it seems that have appeared across the Netherworld.

If you’ve been wondering just what that new Disgaea game is, yes, it’s something brand new and fans will definitely enjoy more of the content they’ve become acustomed to with some new changes. Stay tuned for our upcoming review in the next few days.
