One of 2011’s finest games, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, will receive its first dose of downloadable content with the release of Dawnguard this summer Bethesda has announced. In a similar fashion to Activision’s Call of Duty DLC the Xbox 360 version of Dawnguard will be a timed exclusive. This means that PC and PS3 players will have to presumably wait a few months before getting their hands on it.

We know little about Dawnguard‘s content at this time. Bethesda’s blog post regarding the expansion contains just a simple teaser image and the promise that more details will be revealed at this year’s E3.

Kotaku points out that the most recent patch for Skyrim contains references to frost elves and crossbows. Could the new expansion bring a brand new race or weapons technologies to the world of Skyrim?

How much time did you spend in Skyrim? Let us know in the comments, dear readers! I personally played about 30 hours of Skyrim between the Windows PC version and the Ps3 version. Oddly I never really touched the story campaign, the game has so many side quests it could be six games in one!
