Seeing double: Pair of Yo-Kai Watch games coming in Sepember

Posted on September 3, 2016 by Jason Nason

The first Yo-Kai Watch game was fantastic. I got my hands on a copy right away and immediately fell in love with the game. It was quirky, fun, and unique, and filled with so much detail and depth that there was just so much to do. And beyond that the world that was designed had so much detail that the exploration of the city and countryside, which was so much a part of the game, was fun to do.

The sequels to that game, and yes I did use the plural of the word, are set to hit the Nintendo 3DS later this month. Yo-Kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits and Yo-Kai Watch 2: Fleshy Souls arrive on September 30th.

In the new adventure you’ll travel to the past to witness the origin of the Yo-kai Watch and put an end to an age-old war between two Yo-kai factions! You will discover the Yo-kai Watch Model Zero, which gives players two new tactics that make for more strategic battles.

New title Tank Troopers coming to 3DS in Winter 2016

Posted on September 3, 2016 by Jason Nason

In a game that feels reminicent of the GameCube title Battalion Wars, Nintendo announced a new digital exclusive title called Tank Troopers on Thursday during their Nintendo Direct.

This newly announced game lets players customize their tank through special characteristics of tank-pilot Troopers, enabling abilities such as hitting enemies with a freeze attack, launching paint balls to block the opponents’ views or using electric shocks to stall rival tanks where they stand.

The game will offer a six-person multiplayer mode, along with Download Play as well.

Enlist In Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s Beta This October

Posted on September 3, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

Activision will give players on PlayStation 4 preferential access to the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare for those who pre-order the title. Xbox owners will get the multiplayer beta at a later date with PC players completely left out in the cold as the beta is “not available on PC. No mention of the multiplayer beta being open – looks like putting $5 down at a participating retailer is the only way in.

Infinite Warfare’s multiplayer takes the class driven gameplay introduced in last year’s Black Ops III and expands upon it with the concept of “rigs”. Each “rig” is in actuality a combination of three different traits and perks that players can cycle through. Also changing are “payloads” – which are the new name for the powerful ultimate-weapons also introduced in Call of Duty: Blacks Ops III. During the course of a match players can swap between different rig load outs depending on their enemies’ tactics – not unlike how in Overwatch players can swap characters to meet their situational needs.

From those who have played the game at Call of Duty XP – Kill-streaks and staples like UAV / Counter UAV are still present with the parkour gameplay popularized by Advanced Warfare and Black Ops III.

Activision & Infinity Ward have also released a multiplayer reveal trailer so those of us not at the XP event can get a taste of whats coming this October.

Need to check out more Infinite Warfare action? Here’s 30 minutes of gameplay from Fanboy-Attack:

How do you feel about the pre-order requirement for the beta given that previous betas have been open to all?

New 30th Anniversary Legend of Zelda amiibo on the way

Posted on September 3, 2016 by Jason Nason

The Legend of Zelda is kind of a big deal. But if you’re here you already know that.

During the Nintendo Direct on Thursday Nintendo announced some news about The Legend of Zelda. Not only is the newest game, Breath of the Wild, set for release on the Wii U and NX in March, but The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, previously released on the Wii console, launches for the Virtual Console service today in Nintendo eShop for Wii U. Plus we were reminded that the original game that launched the Zelda franchise will be included when the Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition launches on November 11th.

But for the 30th Anniversary of the franchise we’re also getting some celebratory new amiibo.

This holiday season Nintendo will release four special amiibo figures: 8-Bit Link, Ocarina of Time Link and a two-pack that includes both Toon Link and Zelda from The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. These amiibo will work the same as Super Smash Bros. series Link, Toon Link and Zelda amiibo, and will also have special functionality in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild when it launches next year.

The amiibo will be released on December 2nd.

Mario Party Star Rush changes up the party

Posted on September 3, 2016 by Jason Nason

Mario Party Star Rush is set to change the rules in the Mario Party series when it arrives on the Nintendo 3DS in November. Gone is the slow, turn-based gameplay and in is a fast paced, all out action fest.

You’ll have to think fast and have a blast with the variety of ways to party with Mario, Toad and the rest of the Mario gang. Mario Party Star Rush will feature seven modes, including Toad Scramble, a mode with open maps to push your strategy, fast-paced mini-game gantlet Coinathon. There is also Mario Shuffle, in which players maneuver three pieces to their opponent’s side of the board.

In Toad Scramble, everyone plays as a Toad, but Mushroom Kingdom allies are waiting around the board to team up and take down bosses in mini-games. The game is also compatible with the Super Mario series amiibo figures.
