Langrisser Re:Incarnation -TENSEI- lands on 3DS Today

Posted on April 19, 2016 by Jason Nason

Aksys Games, extreme and Masaya Games’ new game Langrisser Re:Incarnation -TENSEI- is officially available on the Nintendo 3DS.

Langrisser Re:Incarnation -TENSEI- is a strategic RPG experience coming for the Nintendo 3DS. After a 15 year absence, the legendary RPG series makes its triumphant return. In the game you wield the mighty sword Langrisser as you journey through a massive world at war. Define the path before you by lending your talents to one of three factions and secure your place as your faction’s greatest hero by executing strategic supremacy over your enemies.

The very first game in the series (Warsong) was released in 1991 for the Sega Genesis. The rest of the titles in the series were released in Japan only, with the second game seeing a release for both the Sega MegaDrive and Super Famicom with subsequent titles released primarily for the Sega Saturn. The final game in the series, Langrisser V: The End of Legend, was released for the Saturn in 1998.

Chronicles of Teddy: Harmony of Exodus | Review

Posted on April 19, 2016 by Jason Nason

I really didn’t know what to expect when I downloaded Chronicles of Teddy: Harmony of Exodus on my Wii U. I had a basic understanding of the story from some pregame coverage, but didn’t know much aside from the nice pixel look of the game. What I got was a beautiful and challenging game.

This game is deeply engaging.

Right off the bat I as blown away by the visuals in the game. This game has stunning and beautiful pixel art, with the whole thing looking and feeling like a modern game with pre-rendered or CG backgrounds, only they’re not. The game is 100% pixel art and it looks gorgeous. The level of detail in everything, from the character sprites, backgrounds, items, and foreground is all done with an eye for the finest detail.

Another element of the game that I loved, before even getting into the gameplay itself is the audio. Usually these elements I leave to the end of the review, but they are so much a part of the game that they can’t be left as an aside.

Not only the music of the game, but the sound effects add so much to the atmosphere of the game. From the creaking of wood, to the soft and gentle sound of the wind though the trees, the sound design of this game is epic. I would easily compare the sound design and music of this game to that of Donkey Kong Country, a game which to this day I enjoy listening to.

It’s that good.

Broken Deals: Cheap Xbox Ones, Games & More

Posted on April 19, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

It has been awhile since we’ve featured some amazing gaming deals here on the site. With recent releases like the new Rachet & Clank and Dark Souls III tearing up the sales charts and adding to people’s gamerscore / trophy count it is about time for us to feature some new deals. I think this week’s edition of Broken Deals might appeal to those looking to jump into the current generation or pick up a new console.

Amazing Xbox One System Deal

First up we’ve got an absolutely stellar deal on a refurbished Xbox One console via Ebay.com. Coming in at just shy of $190 this is the cheapest I’ve seen an Xbox One console – new, refurbished or used – if you haven’t jumped on Microsoft’s latest console for exclusives like Sunset Overdrive, Halo 5 and others perhaps this is the deal you’ve been waiting for.

Dan McFox: Head Hunter turns up on Nintendo 3DS

Posted on April 19, 2016 by Jason Nason

Lightwood Games has announced their next game for the Nintendo 3DS and it won’t be another word game. The game, Dan McFox: Head Hunter, will hit eShops in Europe on Thursday, April 21st with the North American release date still not determined.

It’s a budget title (£1.99 / €2.49) which we plucked from our back-catalogue of mobile phone games and remixed in some interesting ways for 3DS.

Dan McFox: Head Hunter is inspired by the kids’ board game Guess Who and is a remix from Lightwood Games’ back-catelogue of mobile games. The game sees you racing to pick out the right faces in a crowd, to help agent Dan McFox round up the suspects he’s looking for. It’s frantic screen-tapping fun with (literally) billions of faces!

“While it’s a slight and momentary change of direction for our studio,” the studio said in a release, “porting across an old favourite as a low-priced release gave us chance to get to grips with some new things, like using Nintendo Network for leaderboards, and making our first multi-lingual game.”

Batman: Arkham HD Collection Leaked For June Release On PS4 / Xbox One

Posted on April 19, 2016 by Rae Michelle Richards

RockSteady’s original two Batman Arkham games will be re-released in a new Batman Arkham  HD Collection for the PS4 and Xbox One according to a GameStop employee.  The collection will reportedly include 2009’s Batman: Arkham Asylum  and 2011’s Batman: Arkham City with graphical improvements and optimization for both platforms.  It will also include all of the previously released DLC for both titles as well. It will be available for pre-order later today with a release date set for June 10th.

I reviewed RockSteady‘s last game, Batman: Arkham Knight on PS4 last summer. Here is what I had to say on that game:

“At the end of the day Batman: Arkham Knight is a solid open world title that packs in a number of different side activities and main story missions that will keep players engaged for many hours. The larger open world environments are a welcomed change of pace for the Arkham series but arbitrary gating of new territory tied to story missions is something that I had hoped Arkham Knight wouldn’t have continued. The writing in Arkham Knight  is also problematic in how it handles its female characters and falling clearly into trope territory while leaving Batman as an un-relatable avatar that exists solely to facilitate the game’s excellent combat.”

Previously released DLC for Arkham City included: Several skins for batman packaged as a Skin Pack, an optional Challenge Room pack that included The Bat Cave and Joker’s Carnival and a playable NightWing pack that included a new playabale character and challenge maps.

Previously released DLC for Arkham Asylum included: Several challenge maps – Dem Bones, Crime Alley, Heart of Darkness, Hothouse Prey and the previously PS4 / OSX exclusive The Joker Challenge Map collection.
