THQ Suing UFC Owners, EA Over Videogame Rights

Former publisher THQ is suing EA as well as UFC brand owner Zuffa, claiming EA garnered details from purchase negotiations in order to dismantle and undermine THQ’s relationship with Zuffa.

THQ claims it is owned an additional US$10 million beyond the $10 million Zuffa paid previously in order to terminate its license agreement.Read More

Activision Blizzard Becomes Independant

Activision Blizzard’s quest to become independent of its parent company Vivendi has been completed today, following the overturning of a September ruling that ceased the purchase, dropping Vivendi’s stake in the company to about 12 percent.

The move was headed by an investor group led by CEO Bobby Kotick, whom completed the US$8.2 billion buyout Friday, ending the 5 years of Activision Blizzard being a subsidiary of Vivendi.

Pokemon X and Y Sell 4 Million Units in First Two Days

Pokémon X and Pokémon Y set a few records over the weekend, the most notable of which is selling a whopping 4 million units in just 48 hours.

Released on October 12th, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y for Nintendo 3DS became the first set of games in franchise history to launch simultaneously worldwide. Nintendo reported today that the games combined to sell more than 4 million units across Japan, Europe and The Americas on Saturday October 12th and Sunday October 13th.

“The early response to Pokémon X and Pokémon Y not only reaffirms the ongoing passion of Pokémon fans, but also indicates that an entirely new generation of gamers is eager to experience the franchise for itself,” said Nintendo President Satoru Iwata.
