We’ve waited two years to get our first glimpse at Super Smash Bros for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Wait no longer because during their E3 Direct live-stream Nintendo showed off not one but two trailers featuring gameplay from both versions.

We don’t know about any content difference between the two games but the 3DS version has a very distinct cell shaded style, while the Wii U version looks like Super Smash Bros Brawl on current-generation HD steroids. In terms of gameplay, it’s pretty similar to previous games in the franchise – at least from the four or so minutes they broadcast. No new items or game changing mechanics, like Brawl’s  final smashes, were shown. We also don’t know how the two versions will connect together, either.

Oh, you want to know about new characters? Joining the fisticuffs are an avatar from the Animal Crossing series and a certain beloved CapCom character who has seen some better days. No, we won’t spoil it – just watch the trailers below.
