Disney looks to take aim at the Skylanders market when it releases Disney Infinity August 18th, 2013.  I don’t want to go as far to say that Disney Infinity is a complete clone of the Skylanders franchise, but it takes quite a bit from it and builds on to an amazing concept. One of the main differences between the two is in Infinity you can open up the Toy Box (if you’ve played Toy Story 3 you should be somewhat familiar with what it is) and create a whole unique world. Either by building on to already created worlds or starting completely from scratch.

An amazing idea which I’m sure that many kids (and adults) will love. This game goes beyond what Skylanders does. It gives you, the player, the ability to create a world and let your friends join in. Want to rebuild some of the classic Mario Kart tracks and have friends join in and race with you? It’s possible. I think Disney is on the right track with this game and will establish a huge franchise with this game. It’s said that there is (obviously) two player same screen co-op, but there will also be a four player option through online play.
