I think almost everyone can tell that the PlayStation Vita needs a bit of a boost in terms of recognition and sales performance. When your previous handheld outsells its’ successor months after launch, there is clearly a problem. Sony is aware of the marketing problems plaguing their handheld and they promise to address them, next year.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Sony VP, Fergal Gara, essentially confirmed that the device will see a reduction sometime next year. Sony seems committed to the current Vita initiatives such as the recently released Little Big Planet, next month’s Playstation Battle Royal and the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Liberation bundle.  This means that after the holiday rush we will see Sony add “additional value” (read: price cuts) to the Vita.

In part, thanks to IGN, here is what he said:

“So the question is not so much if, but when. We won’t have an across the board price down this Christmas. But what you will see us doing is work very hard with our retail partners to add value to the product to make it more compelling.”
