Unreleased Final Fantasy II Cart Listed For $50,000

Posted on August 20, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Do you have an extra $50,000 lying around I could borrow? Final Fantasy II, originally released for the Nintendo Entertainment System, never made it to our shores despite the fact that Square Soft began work on an English language translation in 1991. With the impending release of the SNES Square shelved the project to focus on the newer generation of hardware.

A bootleg version of this English prototype have been floating around the net for a couple of years now. For those looking for the real deal owner of one of the original authentic Beta carts, Frank, has listed the item on ebay for an astonishing 50K. It wouldn’t be surprising the auction comes close to this price, especially after games like the Nintendo World Championship have sold for $13,500 in 2008, and there are probably a lot more of those than FFII prototypes.

Don’t take our word for it. The  auctioneer describes the cart as:

A pre-production sample cartridge for any video game from this era is rare indeed, but for one to survive for a game that was never actually released is something of a miracle. Having that unreleased game be a part of one of the most important franchises in video game history is basically unheard of.

Dragon Age 3 To Add Co-op?

Posted on August 20, 2012 by Joshua Rust

First off, I want to clarify that this is clearly speculation and rumor at the current moment. But, if a recent social poll is to be believed it appears that the Dragon Age franchise could see co-op implemented into Dragon Age 3. While the poll doesn’t clarify that co-op will come to Dragon Age 3, it does give the option to vote for it as a potential feature.

The potential plot for DA3 was given as well via NeoGaf:

“The great nation of Orlais, the most powerful empire in Dragon Age, tears itself apart in civil war.”

“The stout men and women of Ferelden struggle to recover and reclaim their nation from the horde of vile Darkspawn that lay waste to its lands a decade ago.”

“The Chantry, the once-unified faith of the Dragon Age world stands divided. The Templar order has broken away, claiming the church has become too lax in policing the dangerous powers o the mages. The Mage circles have rebelled, believing the Templars have become too strict, too zealous in their duties, and too quick to slaughter those who step out of line.”

“The world of Dragon Age is one on the brink of collapse, and when a desperate gathering in the name of peace becomes the epicentre of a magical blast that decimates the Chantry’s leadership, it becomes clear that someone or something is manipulating events to drive the world into chaos.”

“From the ashes of that explosion, something new rises: The Inquisition. As the Inquisitor, it falls to you to build up your power and martial your forces, uncover secrets and build connections across the world. You must explore forgotten spaces, uncover ancient mysteries and uproot those who would destroy the fabric of the world.”

If it’s true co-op, I’m all for Bioware implementing this in the game. If it’s the co-opatition that Bioware brought to Mass Effect 3, eh…I’ll pass. How about you all? Would you want to see co-op in Dragon Age 3?

Diablo 3 Patch To Add Paragon Leveling System

Posted on August 20, 2012 by Les Major

Blizzard has been eager to add reasons for players to keep enjoying Diablo 3 long after they’ve completed the main story line. The new paragon leveling system announced today seems to be a great addition. Originally reaching level 60 just left players in an item hunt with no where else to go with their characters. The paragon system adds 100 new levels that begin at level 60.

A big issue for level 60 players has been finding magic gear to continue improving their character. Some players had Magic Find stat boosting sets of equipment they’d switch into before defeating enemies to raise their chances of good drops. This upset other players who were against the gear swapping concept. So every paragon level rewards you with 3% Magic Find and 3% Gold Find boosts. As well as core stat boosts like you’d get from a normal level up.

It will be interesting to see where this new concept goes. For more details straight from blizzard on this new system continue to read more.

Posted on August 20, 2012 by Jeff Wade

Slowly but surely, Rockstar seems to be pulling back the curtain on Grand Theft Auto 5, offering pictorial proof that, yes it is a thing and that it is very likely to have numerous vehicles, presumably for you to steal.

Mind you what’s there is not incredibly much, but in a blog post entitled “Transportation,” these three screenshots offer a hint to what we can expect from the anticipated sequel.

3DS XL Launches Alongside New Super Mario Bros 2

Posted on August 20, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Wait games release on Sundays? Well they do, if you happen to be a fan of Nintendo’s first party titles. Alongside Mario’s latest adventure, New Super Mario Bros 2, Ninty also left fans a present in the form of the 3DS XL. If there was a Sunday that could take half a week’s pay, it’d be August 19th!

The 3DS XL boasts a better view angle for both 3D and multiple players, a 90% larger screen and rounder edges, making the handheld easier on the palms during extended periods of play. The system retails for $1999 USD, $30 than the price of the standard 3DS. It should be noted that XL does not replace the existing 3DS.

New Super Mario Bros 2 takes cues from the 2006 DS original and revisits classic 2D Mario gameplay with a few twists. This latest entry marks the return of the raccoon suit, originally introduced in Super Mario Bros 3 on the NES, and features an emphasis on coin collection! NSMB2 has a suggested retail price of $39.99.
