Atlus Releases New Gungnir Screenshots

Posted on May 25, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Atlus has released a whole series of screenshots from the North American version of their upcoming strategy RPG game Gungnir.

Gameplay is divided between two different phases, event scenes and strategy battles using the traditional Strat-RPG formula similar to other titles in the genres. In between these two phases players have the ability to buy new weapons and armor to upgrade their party. Interestingly the game also includes a special “easy mode” for new players to the genre. It is nice to see Atlus include mechanics for players who might pick up Gungnir without being entirely in the know.

Check out a gallery of screenshots after the jump. Gungnir will be released on June 12th at both brick and mortar stores as well as the PlayStation Network.Read More

Demon Souls Online Support Extended Amidst Popularity

Posted on May 25, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

Are you still enjoying being slain by impossibly tough creatures in Demon’s Souls? Enough people are obviously still playing the game as Atlus announced that they will be extended server support for the foreseeable future in North America. The servers were originally scheduled to go offline on May 31st 2012, just seven short days from now.

The game’s spiritual successor Dark Souls is still quite popular on both the PS3 and Xbox 360 as well. Although Dark Soul does not appear on the Top 20 list of most active Xbox games there are people on my friends list playing it to this day.

Demon’s Souls was originally launched in the fall of 2009 and is now part of Sony’s Greatest Hits line up for PlayStation 3. I’m pretty sure you can find it for less than $20!

Red Orchestra 2 GOTY Edition Update Released

Posted on May 25, 2012 by Daniel Shannon

The Game of the Year Edition of Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad has just been released on Steam. As we reported previously, this free update includes numerous tweaks, in addition to a new map and two new gameplay modes. The new “Action” and “Classic” modes sound promising, because Red Orchestra 2’s vanilla gameplay falls somewhere in between fast paced shooters like the Call of Duty series and slower, more tactical shooters like the Arma series or the original Red Orchestra.

To commemorate this update, Red Orchestra 2 is free to play this weekend. Additionally, it is 75% off on Steam until Monday, which means that, if you fall in love with the game over the weekend, you can pick it up for $10. You can read its ginormous Change Log here. Read on for trailer.Read More

In addition to the standard fighting game fare – multiple special moves and using gaurds/defensive techniques strategically Arena features a special type of attack using a Burst Gauge system.

Call of Duty MW3 Collection #2 Hits Xbox Live

Posted on May 25, 2012 by Rae Michelle Richards

The latest collection of add-on maps have been released on Xbox Live. Collection #2 adds 3 multiplayer maps, 2 Spec Ops Missions and 2 “Face-Off” Maps.  Face-off is a new mode where the focus is on close quarters combat rather than the larger areas that the COD franchise is known for.

Modern Warfare 3 Collection 2 adds the following maps – Getaway,  Lookout:, Sanctuary, Foundation, Oasis, Kill Switch, Iron Clad. The maps were originally part of the COD Elite service, which drops maps more perioidically but requires a $44.99 a year commitment. Alternatively you can purchase Collection 2 for 1200 Microsooft Points.

Correction: An earlier version of this story contained a factual error. It stated that this was “Collection #3” when in fact this is the second round of downloadable content for Modern Warfare 3 to hit Xbox Live.
